Amity University Gurgaon is now academic affiliate of IET, UK

Amity School of Engineering and Technology had the honor and privilege of commemorating the felicitation ceremony of Amity University Gurgaon becoming an academic affiliate of IET (Institution of Engineering & Technology) on 8th April,2016 (Friday) at Amity University Gurgaon. On the momentous occasion,distinguished luminaries from IET- India (Mr. Yogesh Kochhar (Chairman, IETIndia), Mr. Rajan Malhotra (Head, Sectors and Projects, IET India), Mr. RajeshBhatt (Regional Head, North-West for IET India)) recorded their presence.

Maj.Gen. V. K. Narang, Director – ASET introduced about IET (Institution of Engineering & Technology) and highlighted the rich portfolio of offerings that IET has and the benefits that IET and AUG association will accrue for the faculty members,researchers, students and the organization as a whole. He also introduced the guest speakers of the session- Mr. Yogesh Kochhar (Chairman, IET India) and Mr.Rajan Malhotra (Head, Sectors and Projects, IET India).

In the session, Mr. Rajan Malhotra, HeadSectors & Projects (IET India) gave a presentation on the distinctive sectors of working of IET India- industries, academic institutions and Government agencies. He briefed about various project ideas that have been acclaimed at International level. He cited examples and achievements of fresh entrepreneurs and stressed upon the fact that students should be given exposure of real-time projects and assignments in order to develop better professional understanding, work-experience and entrepreneurial spirit.

Mr.Yogesh Kochhar (Chairman IET India) delivered a talk on the topic “Education Vs Social Media” and discussed some interesting facts about social media influence on the youth. He also advocated the idea of bringing industries to the classrooms so as to bridge the gap between the academic curriculum and fast-paced technology revolution.

In the forum, Prof. Dr. P.B. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor AUG invited the suggestions and views on proposed programs and support from IET in industry integration and better exposure for students. There was a discussion session between faculty members and the dignitaries. The delegates as well as authorities of AUH expressed their interest on the concept of introducing new programs enabling students with upcoming projects, industry readiness and employ ability.

The ideas of organizing expert lectures by IET professional experts from UK, having Industrial visits for students-in organizations of repute, promoting innovation and start-ups in different areas including health, hygiene, energy, water etc. were also proposed for benefiting from IET- AUG association.
