CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME BETWEEN AUR & HPU, USA ( Travel Grant by AUR)
Manisha Gulyani, Coordinator of Performing Arts at Amity School of Performing Arts, Amity University Rajasthan and an internationally renowned Kathak Artiste of Jaipur style ( Disciple of Pt. Girdhari Maharaj and also learning intricacies of rhythm from Pt. Udai Mazumdar) recently gave her artistic contribution to the Department of Theatre at High Point University.
During her ten days residency, she presented master classes for students of all levels of Dance and Music ability. She not only shared the physical and musical techniques of Indian Classical Dance, but also imparted knowledge of the origins of the art form and significant aspects of Indian Dance aesthetics. The students were physically and intellectually challenged and got great benefit in their training from this encounter.
Manisha also did two concerts in High Point and Winston & afforded the community to witness the art of Kathak dance and its vivid colours and joyous energy. It was a golden chance for Flamenco, Tap and Ballet Dance students to learn about a new culture through hands-on experience. Collaborations like this open minds and lead to global understanding between different people and communities. |
