 Amity University Jharkhand organized Seminar on "Youth and Democracy"

Amity School of Communication, Amity University Jharkhand, organized a Seminar on "Youth and Democracy" on 2nd December 2019 in the University premises. This seminar focused on highlighting the importance of voting and participation of youth for bringing about positive changes in the nation.

The seminar started with the lighting of the lamp of knowledge and felicitation of the Chief Guests Major General Anil Verma (Retd.), Head of the Association of Democratic Reforms, and Mr. Sudhir Pal, State Convener for Jharkhand Chapter of Association for Democratic Reforms and Ms Nandini Raj, Program Associate with Association for Democratic Reforms along with other dignitaries of Amity University Jharkhand.

The event continued with a beautiful and motivational performance on voter awareness with songs sung by Adwitya, a musical group.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sudhir Pal said that our nation has more than 1/3 of population of youth; so for any changes, the nation relies on the youth.

Prof. (Dr.) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor Amity University Jharkhand, said we need to know the importance of voting since government is more important than political parties.

Sharing words of knowledge, Prof. (Dr.) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director Amity University Jharkhand, said that our constitution includes  Fundamental Rights which allows us to maintain equality and unity. He also said that youth energy should be properly channeled in the right direction.

Major General Anil Verma (Retd.) talked about the importance of knowing the election candidates and said that we should not pay attention to caste and religion; rather we should focus on national interest. He also mentioned that if youth don't take things seriously, then nothing can ever change. Youth should be able to pressurize the system to change for good.

The event was a great success, covering topics like functions of ADR, current state of national laws and regulations, election candidates and election processes etc.
