Hon’ble Union Minister, HRD, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' confers Degrees upon Graduands during the first day of Convocation 2019 at Amity University

 

With thousands of proud graduands dressed in black robes and adorning beaming smiles, the three day “Convocation 2019” of Amity University Uttar Pradesh commenced at University campus, Sector 125 wherein the Chief Guest- Hon’ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', presented trophies, medals, certificates and degrees to the special student achievers.

 

Dr. Atul Chauhan-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh declared the Convocation open.

 

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' appreciated Dr. Ashok K Chauhan for his education and philanthropic efforts in varied dimensions which has made the entire country proud. He further congratulated the graduands and said that this memorable day is due to the hard work of each and every student who dream to achieve big in life. He advised the graduands to step into the professional world like a warrior and do the work which would make their alma mater, family and the entire nation proud. He exclaimed that India has always believed in the world as one family and reinstates the philosophy of helping the people in need, at any corner of the world. Hon’ble Minister Mr. Pokhriyal exclaimed that India has always propounded the idea of ‘the world as one family’ and it is essential to progress towards development collaboratively, without leaving anyone behind. He called upon the graduands to face the challenges that will subsequently change into opportunities and lead the perseverant person towards success.

 

He informed that the Ministry will soon be announcing the New Education Policy which is in sync with Hon’ble PM’s vision of forming ‘New Young India’ which will shine in future and the entire world will look upon.

 

During the occasion, Mr G M Rao, Group Chairman, GMR Group was conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions; Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh and Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice- Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh.

 

Mr. Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus & Former Chairman, Tata Sons, Former Chairman, Tata Group was also conferred upon the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy, in absentia, and the degree will be physically handed over to him in his Mumbai office.

 

Delivering his acceptance speech, Dr G M Rao, Group Chairman, GMR Group expressed his gratitude for bestowing the honorary doctorate upon him. While congratulating the graduands, he said that globalization has led to the formation of a different kind of a world, wherein trade wars are creating free market business barriers and geopolitical tensions are at all-time high with groupings of various countries playing against each other. Moreover, with technological advancements, the world is entering into an Infinity era and we would be achieving much more than what we have achieved in last 300 years. Dr. Rao remarked that in order to achieve success in these times, education alone is not sufficient and it is imperative to learn different skill sets such as Adversity Quotient, which can be developed through Inner Excellence and Spirituality.

 

Dr. Rao emphasized upon embracing the change and coming out of comfort zone, otherwise the life would become stagnant. He guided the graduands to always keep learning in life and possess strong self-belief along with high-level of agility, which are the ingredients to success.

 

Addressing the graduands as ‘Distinguished Alumni, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions said that Amitians are nurtured to achieve success in any field. He mentioned that the students are not only provided with global education, but are also taught about ethics, human values, behavioral science etc so that they become not just a successful professional but a good human being. He opined that to achieve success, one must dream high and set a goal. He asked the graduands to remember that while facing adversities, one shall never give up and mustn’t let anything deter them from reaching the goal.

 

Dr. Chauhan shared the three missions of his life, firstly, to make India a Superpower and the way India is developing, it will be possible sooner than expected. Second, to make Amity Group of Institutions as the best in the world and lastly, to synergize the best of Indian brains to rule the world in the area of science and innovation who will transform the society, positively.

 

Welcoming the august gathering, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh presented an overview on the academic, extra-curricular, sports, scientific and other important achievements of Amity University Uttar Pradesh in Year 2018.

 

During the first day, over 6900 graduands were awarded with degrees and diplomas. 85 Gold Medals, 86 Silver Medals, 51 Bronze Medals and 42 PhDs were awarded to the meritorious students.
