Guest Lecture on "Beat Reporting- Covering Crime and Special Stories"
Amity School of Communication organized a guest lecture on "Crime and Investigative Reporting" on September 6, 2019. Mr. Jaykishan Sharma, Senior Correspondent- Hindustan Times addressed the students and shared his experiences in the areas of special investigative stories. The lecture was planned to supplement the core courses on Print Journalism and Television Journalism being offered to BA(J&MC) 1st and 3rd-semester students, respectively. The workshop aimed at
1. Introducing the students to the nuances of Crime and Investigative Reporting
2. Explaining the challenges and problems faced by the journalists on the field
3. Developing sources to develop exclusive stories
4. Providing tips to improve their observation and story writing skills required for journalism
In the two hours guest lecture (from 11:15-01:15 AM), the resource person shared his first-hand experiences from the field. The interactive session between students and resource person along with practical exercises proved to be really interesting and engaging.
