Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination, IPTSE-2019

 Amity University Digital India Club in association with the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) organized a Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination, IPTSE-2019’ at Amity University Noida campus.

 

The aim of the workshop was to prepare students and provide knowledge about Intellectual Property across all the disciplines and domains to the students aspiring to appear in next edition of Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination, IPTSE-2019.

 

During the occasion, a MoU was signed between Amity University and ASSOCHAM for jointly conducting IPR Awareness programmes.

 

Addressing the gathering, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that new technologies are emerging fast which is leading to rapid industrial revolution and now, there is a thin line between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. She mentioned that Amity has streamlined the curriculum as per Education 4.0 and is further formulating it for 5.0. As business models are changing speedily, it is the responsibility of educational institutions to prepare students as per industry needs. Dr. Shukla apprised that with the emergence of new innovations, IPR is the need of the hour and young minds should be familiarized and abreast with it, since youth led IPR movement can contribute towards nation building.

 

Dr Sheetal Chopra, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National Council on IPR & GM – IPR Advocacy, Ericsson remarked that IP involves lot of complexities which every person needs to know, even if not associated with IP related domain. Since it is not only about getting one’s innovation protected but for people to know the nuances of IP so that they cannot commit anything unlawful under IP Acts. Stating an example she said that people cannot use lines of lyrics or phrases from books without approval since most of them have copyright and if the respective company or individual wants can sue any person for using it, even if stated in a general manner. Dr. Chopra informed that there are lot of frugal innovations which cannot be protected in India but many other countries such as US, Australia have IPR provisions for them.

 

Mr. Nahid Alam, Dy. Dir. & Head, IPR, ASSOCHAM National Council on IPR & GM – IPR Advocacy, Ericsson informed that the forthcoming edition of Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination, IPTSE-2019 will be held on 10 January, 2020, wherein the students have to take an online examination.  He added that on the basis of score obtained during the Examination, the students will be awarded at regional and national level with the Cash Prize, Trophy and Certificate.

 

The workshop was attended by hundreds of students of Amity University
