Amity University Students Adopt Eco-Friendly Fashion Under

‘Swatchhata Hi Sewa-2019 Campaign’

Partnering with the governments mission to do away with single-use plastic and preserve the environment, students of Amity University, Noida are moving ahead to give up usage of plastic and adopt eco-friendly fashion in their day-today lives.

Coming together under the ‘Swatchhata Hi Sewa-2019 Campaign’, launched today by Government of India, under the aegis of the University Grants Commission (UGC) with an aim to eliminate use of Plastic and to dispose Plastic Waste, “Fashion Runway 2019” was organized by Amity Finishing School (AFS). 20 students from various departments of the university participated in the event using ‘Eco-Friendly’ fashion props to promote green living including newspaper used as pocket square, diary made of eco-friendly props etc.

“We support the ban on single-use plastic and believe that sustainable fashion is the future. And this was the primary motive behind organizing this Fashion Runway 2019,” shared Jaishree Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Finishing School. 17 girls and 3 boys presented their eco-friendly style statement and also shared their concerns about the growing environmental issues that pose a deep threat to their future and the planet. A slew of cultural performances were also organized as a part of the occasion that kept the audience enthralled while the jury members tried hard to pick the best outfit and eco-friendly prop of the day. The students were given points on the eco-friendliness of their props that went best with their outfits.

The ‘Swatchhata Hi Sewa-2019 Campaign’ will be on till October 2, 2019 in Amity wherein Shramdaan will be organized within the campus Students, Faculty members & Staff will be encouraged to participate in this Shramdaan for picking up any plastic waste in their surroundings. Further the entire plastic waste picked up during the Shramdaan will be brought to a central location in the vicinity for further disposal.
