Amity University Jharkhand Organized a webinar on News and Information Literacy

RANCHI, 23nd April 2021, Amity School of Communication, Amity University Jharkhand conducted an informative and interactive webinar on the topic, “News and Information Literacy” with the aim of spreading awareness on the dangers of fake news and its impact especially in the present context of the pandemic.

The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Prof. Dr. Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director,  Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand.  

Ms. Rashmi Verma, Asstistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, Central University Jharkhand was the key speaker of the event. She explained the importance of examining one’s sources of information to assure true and accurate information with the help of a power point presentation as well as a survey which was made open to the students.

Prof Dr. Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand and Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand also spoke briefly about detecting fake news in the media by the strategy he termed as “CRAP” which stands for conciseness, relevance, accuracy and purpose and how media is the only bridge between us and society at the time of isolation as such.

Thereafter, Prof. Dr. Ajit Pandey, Director Amity University Jharkhand discussed the issues that journalists face today and concluded with the age old saying “Satya bolo, priya bolo”, explaining the importance of honesty and conciseness in the profession of journalism.

The webinar was concluded with a vote of thank.
