Amity University Jharkhand organized “Mock Parliament: Season 2” on 27thFebruary, 2020. The program started by felicitating Prof. (Dr) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand, Mr. Gauravh Gupta, Vice President, Amity Education Group and Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand. It was followed by the National Anthem and lighting of the knowledge lamp.
Mr. Gauravh Gupta, Vice President, Amity Education group addressed the gathering and said “ Debate is a place where we look for pros and cons on a particular topic or situation. Debate helps us to distinguish between what is right and wrong.” He also mentioned that the debate should be conducted in a healthy manner. He added that the objective of the debate should be clear and transparent”.
On this occasion, Prof. (Dr) Raman Kumar Jha, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand enlightened the students with his powerful words, “Debate and discussion are essential for any Parliamentary democracy and dissent, disruption and disturbance should not be allowed to dominate the debate, discussion and decision”.
Mr. Prabhakar Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand mentioned that one's logic and objective should be very clear and transparent in a mock parliament. He also added that in mock parliament being the ruling party is difficult but remaining in that position is more difficult”.
The total number of groups participating in the debate were 16. The topics of the debate focused on various important social issues like the Death penalty should be banned, Education should be free, Should gay marriage be legalized, Abortion should be banned, etc. The winning opposition team was Akansha Dwivedi. , Geet Heliwal, Arya Jha from (B.A Economics )and the winning ruling team was Esha Talvar, Shubham Mishra and Anshita Singh from (BAJ&MC). The program ended with a vote of thanks.
