National Science Day 2020

With the idea to bring ‘Science to All’, the Amity University Gurugram celebrated ‘National Science Day’ to commemorate C.V. Raman’s confirmation of the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ on 28th February in 1928 at its campus.

The program was organized by the Amity School of Applied Science which includes School Quiz (in which school from Delhi NCR participated), Club Activities, Demonstrations, Guest Lecture by Dr. Ashok K Sharma on ‘Managing your Health with Polymers and Educational movies etc.

Prof A K Yadav, Director, ASAS while welcoming the students enlighten about the importance of science day and why it is celebrated in India.

Prof P B Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram while addressing the students said, “Science is for one and all and should be used for the nation-building and for the wellbeing of the people. Science alone can solve the problem of hunger, poverty, unemployment and disease. But then those who pursue science education and engage in scientific research must necessarily cultivate and nurture the ‘spiritual strength of science’ that inspires us to use science for human welfare”.

A video of Nobel Laureate Madam Curie of 1943 was also shown where she said, “I for one belong to those who believe that science has a great beauty and with its great spiritual strength will in time cleanse this world of its evils its ignorance, poverty disease.”

Prof Padmakali Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram in her address said, “Learning is very important and whatever you do you should have a scientific thought process.”
