Expert Talk on Youth and Mental Health by Dr. Anjuman Bains PhD in Psychology
Amity School of Communication, Amity University Patna organized an Expert Talk on Youth and Mental Health on 8th March, 2022 at an online platform. This Guest Lecture was organized on an online platform – Zoom.
The guest speaker was Dr. Anjuman Bains. She is a PhD in Psychology and holds a Diploma in Guidance and Counseling. She is a Counselling psychologist and researcher. She has been associated with the Weightlifting Federation of India as a head psychologist since 2019.
She has also worked with Padamshree Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, silver medalist Tokyo Olympics and has been felicitated by Shri Brinder Prasad Baishya (Member of Parliament) for her contributions as a psychologist for the federation. She has been invited to BBC world news as expert to get a report on Covid-19 and mental health.
She has several research publications to her name and has presented her work at reputed universities such as McGill University Quebec, Ryerson University Toronto, and University Malaysia Sabah to name a few.
Dr. Bains spoke at a length on the topic of mental health, anxiety control, stress management, and she guided the students on how to deal with competition and stress without slipping into depression. She motivated the students and guided them on how to prepare themselves for the competitive industry post Covid pandemic without disturbing their mental health.
She guided the students on stress management in this competitive work environment. She gave special attention to the 6th semester, where she guided them how to prepare mentally for their interview sessions, without feeling the heat of the competition.
She guided the students on how to handle signs of depression and take help of the expert without any worry. The session was followed by a Question Answer Round where students asked many pertinent questions related to mental wellbeing. Dr. Bains answered all the questions related to depression, anger and anxiety, which helped the students a lot.
She was happy after seeing the enthusiasm of the students, and she was also eager to connect with them in the future for guest lecture, training, internship and placement opportunities.
