The school offers interdisciplinary programmes which focuses on the principle that human welfare should advance without exhausting essential resources, without posing risks to upcoming generations, and without causing irreversible damage to ecosystems and the Earths resources. With increasing discussion and debate surrounding issues such as climate change, pollution and energy in recent years, and increasing expectations for sustainability across our social, political and corporate sectors, there is growing demand in both private as well as public sector for graduates specialized in the fields of natural resources management, forestry and sustainable development to help develop effective solutions.
The Government of India is also committed to various national and international policy initiatives to ensure sustainable utilization of natural resources. India is strongly committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (2030), wherein most goals directly or indirectly are linked with natural resources and their sustainable management. The National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) has eight missions under it and it has been proposed that the implementation of these National Missions is to be undertaken in a consultative manner, actively engaging multi-stakeholder groups like, experts from industry, academia and civil society, in addition to the related Ministries. According to the Company's Act (2013), it is mandatory for a company to spend at least 2 percent of the average net profits of the company made during the three immediately preceding financial years on CSR activities. The act also defines CSR as activities that promote poverty reduction, education, health, environmental sustainability, gender equality, and vocational skills development. Therefore, there is an increasing demand of experts in environmental sustainability, particularly on sustainability reporting.
Therefore, job opportunities are growing in different industries, government, consulting firm, and not-for-profit organizations, who employ graduates as analysis and managers. Opportunities are available in both research and operating organizations. This course has been carefully tailored to produce students capable to be the leaders in government, legislatures, corporations, consulting firms and village associations throughout the world. The industrial market for natural products for herbal, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food supplements, etc. is fast expanding, creating increasing opportunities for professionals in natural resources management.
