Amity University joined hands with FICCI for the Tom Peters Seminar

Without much doubt, Peter Drucker and Tom Peters have shaped the idea of modern management more than any others over the last six decades. Tom Peters has led the way in preparing management for the current era of staggering change, starting in the mid-1970s.

The likes of Fortune, the Economist, the New Yorker and the Los Angeles Times have said Tom is the "uber-guru" of management and inventor of the enormous "management guru industry," that "in no small part, what American corporations have become is what Peters has encouraged them to be," that Tom is "the father of the post-modern corporation," and that “we live in a Tom Peters world.”

Once again, Amity University supported in bringing Tom Peters for the ASQ/FICCI Symposium on Innovation and Quality that was held at Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on May 29th 2009.

The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Sudhir from FICCI. He invited Mr. Sako of ASQ (American Society of Quality) to introduce the ASQ and FICCI partnership in India. He also announced opening of an ASQ office at New Delhi.

Tom Peters initiated his first session with the basic definition of Quality, as defined at http://www.dictionary.com. He then built up the momentum to extend it to corporate culture. He used his distinctive style to address audience who stayed mesmerized through out the day.  His practical approach made the concepts to be very much understandable. His real life examples made it very interesting to listen.

He talked on various topics like:

  • Quality is a matter of choice rather than a system.
  • We are the company we keep
  • “We are what we eat” etc.
