Innovation in Education Technology Awards

Introduction

This unique award for teachers, instituted in the year 2015 by Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF aims to encourage and motivate teachers to adopt technology led new age learning models in their classroom practices to imbibe 21st century skills in learners. Teachers from all AIS branches in Delhi, NCR, outside Delhi and Amity Global Schools take part the event.

2018-2019

The 4th edition of Innovation in Education Technology Awards was held at AIS Saket on September 29, 2018. The event comprised a lesson presentation - a competitive event for teachers and an exhibition by schools – a non-competitive event to show best practices adopted by schools to demonstrate UN-SDG integration in their regular school curriculum. The occasion also marked felicitation of 21 teachers from all branches of AIS for the Best Teacher’s Day essay submitted for the year 2017. Ms Archana Upadhyay of the school was awarded a trophy, a stoll and a cash award of Rs 5000.

Start–Up Programme

Introduction

The annual Amity Inter-School Start-Up Entrepreneurship workshop introduced by Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson and organised by Amity Educational Resource Centre (AERC) introduces the school students to the start-up world in a competitive atmosphere. Under this programme, there is a 7 day workshop conducted by leading entrepreneurs that includes A to Z of entrepreneurship and insights about the working of a start-up. The workshop concludes with an inter-Amity ‘Build Your Own Start Up’ competition.

2017-2018

The workshop held at Amity Global School from July 9-16, 2018 conducted by two leading entrepreneurs Ms Paulene Roussel and Mr Dimitar Inchev, especially invited from Germany concluded with the competition. Two school teams ‘Loyal Providers’ and ‘BikE’ from Classes IX- XI participated in the workshop.

Start–Up Programme

Vasudha/Mathamity

In an effort to inculcate scientific temperament and encourage research & innovation amongst children, as envisaged by Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, the school organises Amity Children Science Congress titled Vasudha and Mathamity every alternate year. Under this initiative, children are encouraged to prepare small do-able projects in Science and Maths. The shortlisted projects are then sent for various national and international forums namely National Children Science Congress (NCSC), Initiatives for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS), CSIR exhibitions and so on.

November 29, 2018

Manika Mathur and Harshita Jain (Class XI) won gold medal for their project ‘Scrub paper soap’. Silver medals were bagged by Manav Prem (Class VIII) for project ‘Accident averting kit’; Sharanya Chakraborty, Ronit Jain, Venkash Kumar and Anmol Mishra (Class IX) for project ‘Obstacle Detection and avoiding car accident’; Dhruv Kohli, Shashwat Jha and Sparsh Rastogi (Class X) for project ‘Bhumiputra app’. Paritosh Shandilya and Shrey,Tript Narang (Class VII) got bronze medal for their project ‘Advanced speed breaker’ at the finale of 11th Vasudha, Inter-Amity Science Fair. The annual science fair based on theme ‘Green technology and sustainable development’ saw a total of 120 projects from Class VI-XII put on display from across all Amity Group of Schools. School also hosted the finale for Class IX-XII. The competition at the school level was held on August 4, 2018 in which students from primary to senior sections participated and the best selected models then made it for the final round.

Vasudha Inter Amity Science Fair

2018-2019 ->

School played host to the final round of Vasudha held under the aegis of Amity Children’s Science Foundation. Students of Class IX, X and XI from all Amity schools showcased their Science models and charts which were adjudged by nine judges, from different fields of Science. In Class IX category AIS Gurugram-43 stood first; in Class X category AIS Vasundhara-6 was the winner and in Class XI category AIS Mayur Vihar bagged the first prize.

2018-2019 ->

The school organised first level of Vasudha-Mathamity on August 4, 2018 for the students of Classes VI-XII to promote and nurture scientific temperament amongst children. The event was graced by eminent scientists and professors specializing in various fields as judges. Students displayed research- based projects on a variety of themes to showcase their innovation, critical enquiry and application based pursuit of knowledge through models, games, and projects.

The school organised Mathamity- Vasudha level 1 Science projects exhibition on July 28-29, 2017, to nurture logical and analytical thinking in students. The event provided students a wide platform to showcase their scientific temperament, critical inquiry, analysis, synthesis, and application based pursuit of knowledge through models, games, projects, research papers and slide presentations.

2015-2016 ->

Students showcased science and math projects on the theme light The projects of Mathamity included a game on integers, a device to prevent upcoming space disasters and a tiny trust bridge that can tolerate up to 800 kg of weight. The projects under Vasudha exhibition included using lime water and biological waste to purify air, designed glue from thermocol and even worked on weather prediction from clouds and animals. The junior school designed a hydraulic bridge for rescue operations, a capacitor to prevent short-circuiting and many other projects.

Heritage Quiz

As a part of Heritage Education, every year the school identifies three states/UTs and celebrates their rich and diverse heritage. Various activities are organized through the year under the guidance of Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, where children are encouraged to learn about the selected state’s people, culture, lifestyle, art & craft, music, dance, costumes, fairs and festivals, languages, religions, rituals, cuisine, etc. The highlights are colourful display boards, inter-section quiz, food festivals, etc. The yearlong celebrations conclude with Inter Amity Heritage Quiz hosted by AIS Saket.

Students showcased a wide variety of projects on the selected states of the year namelywere Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Nagaland.

Mental Math Quiz

Mental Math Quiz is an ongoing annual project initiated by Chairperson Dr (Mrs) AmitaChauhan that aims to nurture young mathematicians by enhancingthe mathematical proficiency of students from class I to X. The competitions held at different levels i.e intra class, intra section and then inter schoolrekindle interest in mathematical tables, enable students to calculate without paper and pen besides developing better reasoning and logical skills.

2018-2019 ->

The school bagged 1 silver medal for Class IV and 1 bronze medal for Class V in the finale of ninth edition of Inter-Amity Mental Math quiz. It also hosted the Inter Amity Mental Math quiz for Class I. The quiz comprised rounds like, audio story, tables (rapid calculations), computation (visual round), pattern recognition (visual round), etc.

AIS MV hosted the competition for Class II on January 28, 2018 in which AIS Noida secured first position followed by AIS Gurugram 46 and AIS MV securing second and third positions respectively. School team comprising Sumit, Simarpreet and Eshal stood first in the Inter-Amity Mental Math Competition held for Class III at AIS Vas 1, on January 25, 2018. Team of Saptrishi Banerjee, Tejas Anand & Aryan Sharma secured third position for Class IX level held on January 24, 2018 at AIS Noida.

2016-2017 ->

The school bagged the first prize at Mental Math Quiz organised for the studnets of Class V on January 24, 2017. However, being the host school, the trophy was passed on to the next high scorer AIS Noida. The second prize was bagged by AIS Pushp Vihar. The quiz witnessed the presence of Rajendra Kumar, Assistant Professor, Math Department, Deshbandhu College, Delhi University as the chief guest. He praised the students and teachers for their untiring efforts.

The school hosted Mental Math Quiz for Class VIII. Dr. Arun Pal Singh, Asst.Prof Maths in Dayal Singh, Delhi University was the chief guest. Mr. Bajpai also graced the event with his gracious presence. Our dynamic Principal Dr.Priyanka Mehta, in her address to the students encouraged them to excel in the field of maths. The prizes were given away by the chief guest, Dr.Arun Pal Singh, Mr. Bajpai and the headmistress Ms. Ruchi Rawat. The winners of the quiz were:

Making-a-Newspaper Contest: GT Awards

The annual Inter Amity GT Making a Newspaper Contest introduced by Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan and organized by The Global Times, introduces the school students to the different nuances of journalism in a competitive atmosphere. Under this programme, every school prepares one complete edition of the newspaper from the stage of conceptualization to finalizing the designing, layouts and editing. The competition, judged by experts from the media industry, concludes with GT Awards.

The GT Edition issue dated March 19, 2018 prepared completely by the students of AIS Mayur Vihar, as a part of GT ‘Making a Newspaper’ Contest bagged several awards at the GT Awards 2017-18 function held in Amity University, Noida on August 20, 2018. Tanisha Pruthi and Khushi Aggarwal (XI) won first prize for Best Illustration. Archisha Arora (XI) won third prize for Best Photograph. Anandi Sen, Nandini Sukhija and Sarah S Varkey (XI) won third prize Best Ground Reporting. Samiksha Ramesh, Kaveri Mathur, Anshika Jain (X) and Khushi Agarwal (XI) won third prize for Best Educational Poster. The school also bagged the second runner-up trophy for the Best Design Award.

The GT reporters and illustrators put up a spectacular performance by bagging prizes in every category at the Annual Inter Amity GT Newspaper Making Award Ceremony 2017. Aksh Gupta, Unmuktman, Nitya Gupta, Priyam Das and Satwik were adjudged the first runner up in Best Headline, Best Ground Reporting and Best Poster Category while Mudit Aggarwal and Kaveri Mathur bagged the second runner up position in the Most Innovative Story and Best Illustrations category. Unmuktman Singh from school bagged the School Time Achievement Award.

Amity YuvaVicharManch is a forum provided by Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan wherein the students and teachers across Amity, discuss and debate on various scientific and technical issues of importance. This year-long programme comprises five stages, viz., essay writing competition, group discussions, debating sessions, power point presentations based on the compilation of case studies and concludes with the most elaborative Youth Parliament that also involves understanding of parliamentary procedures.

AYVM 2017-18 comprised a ‘teacher's presentation’ on six different topics as ‘Automation can leave job cuts in India’, ‘Is social networking leading to breaking of family linkages’, ‘Should Indians go back to 3R norms or find technologies for waste management’, ‘On-Line games are health hazards’, ‘Are disasters more man made than natural’, ‘Make in India vs made in India’ and ‘Evaluation system stumbling block in nurturing creativity’. The competition held at AIS Mayur Vihar was attended by over 60 teachers from across all branches. It was an informative and healthy competition, judged by experts from different fields for each topic. Ms Niti Rathore of the school secured first prize.

Date: May 11, 2017
The school hosted the grand finale of seventh Amity Yuva Vichar Manch. The students from all Amity International Schools discussed, deliberated and debated on the current issue of ‘Gender equality through performance or reservation’. The school auditorium was converted into a Parliament and the session incorporated all the proceedings of the Parliament like introduction of bill, clause by clause discussion, voting and zero hour. The session ended with the prize distribution ceremony in nine categories including ‘Most Humorous Parliamentarian’, ‘Best Orator’, ‘Top Informed Parliamentarian’, ‘Best Question Raised’, etc.

AIS MV participated in the sixth AYVM held at AIS Noida. The event organised under the aegis of Amity’s Children Science Foundation (CSF), saw students slip into the shoes of parliamentarians as they discussed different topics like - Is academic talent of more worth than sporting talent, Odd-Even scheme, No Junk Food bill etc. The school won many other awards in various categories. Shashwat Das and Radha Agarwal were awarded for Best Question and Best Answer respectively. Hriday Kulshrestha was awarded as the most Informed Parliamentarian.

The topics discussed at AYVM 2014-15 included Sustainable development - a myth or reality, Good health –responsibility of self or system, Clean Rivers and water bodies are responsibilities of govt., India a guinea pig for research in developed countries etc.
The school also won several awards. Ms. Shweta Gaur and Dr. RolyTripathi won the second and third prize respectively in the teacher’s presentation category for their topic-‘Social networking media making us more unsocial’ and ‘Good health responsibility of self or system’. The highlight of thestudent participation included the appointment of Advik Agarwal as Home Minister and Ayushi Ahuja as Minister of HRD. Inter Amity Sports Competition

The Inter Amity Sports competition organized under the leadership of Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan aims to stress on the importance of sports in students’ lives and how it can inculcate discipline for personality development. The competition held over the year includes a number of games as football, circlet, table tennis, khokho, aerobics, taekwondo, PEC, etc. hosted by different Amity branches. The games organized strictly on the rules of the respective federations, commences with inter house matches, followed by league matches and then the finals.

2017-2018 ->

More than 19000 students took part in the sixth edition of the Inter- Amity Sports Competition 2017-18, competing in 13 sports disciplines including skating, taekwondo, kabaddi, kho-kho, etc. The school played host to matches for chess. The meet concluded with a felicitation function held at AIS Noida on May 2, 2018. The school won a total of 11 medals (3 silver, 8 bronze).

The 4th edition of Inter Amity Sports Competition saw the participation of 15000 students, and distribution of more than 400 medals and 40 trophies in 13 sports discipline. The school hosted the Chess Tournament on April 6, 7 and 13, 2015. The school won a total of 10 Gold, 15 Silver and 29 Bronze medals in different competitions as Chess, Karate, Table Tennis, Skating, Basketball and Cricket.

Bazinga: Science Quiz

An annual inter Amity Science quiz titled ‘Bazinga’, organized for students of Class IX to XI was conceived byChairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan to inculcate scientific temper in the students. The quiz aims at testing the theoretical, analytical and reasoning skills inphysics. It is first held at intra classlevel, followed by inter class level, culminates withthe inter Amity round. The questions for different rounds are based on various subjects including physics, chemistry, biology, latest innovations, scientists and audio-visuals.

Date: November 19-26, 2018
School team bagged the second position in Class X at the finale of sixth edition of Bazinga Science quiz 2018. The quiz competition held for students of Class IX-XI comprise four levels out of which inter Amity level had 8 rounds namely, concepts, numerical, video, hand on activities, rapid fire, connect, quiz master’s choice and latest in science. Winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates. School also hosted Class XI finale of Bazinga on November 19, 2018. The event was graced by Dr. H R Sardana, principal scientist, National Centre for Integrated Pest Management, Pusa campus as chief guest.

The school hosted the quiz for Class XI students. The event was graced by the presence of eminent names from the field of Science, Dr O P Sharma and Dr Anuj Sinha. AIS Noida bagged the first position followed by AIS Gurgaon 46 and AIS Saket as the first runner up and second runner up respectively.

Over 600 students participated in this Science quiz. Arijit Roy and Aranya Chakraborty of class IX won the 3rd prize at Bazinga quiz held at AIS Noida. Hritik Jain and Karan Gupta of class X also won the 3rd Prize at the quiz held at AIS Saket.

Verve: Aerobics competition

With the objective of strengthening physical agility in students, Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan introduced ‘Verve’ an Aerobics competition hosted by AIS PushpVihar. The competition serves as a forum for children to showcase their fitness levels. The competition divided into senior and junior category includes several individual, dual, trio and teamperformances, and is judged by eminent personalities from thefield of sports.

Hindi Natya Utsav

With an aim to kindle love forour national language Hindi amongst Amitians, Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan introduced ‘Hindi Natya Utsav’ hosted by AIS Mayur Vihar every year. The competition invites participation from all branch of Amity schools to enact plays in Hindi based on social issues or works of literary giants as per the theme, which are then judged by experts from the industry.

2019- 20 ->

April 23, 2019
School hosted 8th Inter Amity drama competition ‘Hindi Natya Utsav’ to promote vernacular theatre and develop dramatic skills of students. All the teams presented mesmerising plays interwoven with social and moral messages in Hindi language. In the middle school category (Class VI-VIII) AIS Mayur Vihar bagged first position, AIS Saket stood second and AIS Noida got third position. In the senior category (Class IX-XII) AIS Mayur Vihar, AIS Noida and AIS Pushp Vihar bagged first, second and third positions respectively. Overall rolling trophy was won by AIS Mayur Vihar but being the host school it was passed on to the first runner up AIS Noida.

School organized the Inter-Amity Skit Competition ‘Hindi Natya Utsav’ on May 9, 2018 under the mentorship of the Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity group of Schools and RBEF.

The Chief Guests of the event were, Independent Film Maker Shri Rakesh Kumar, and Co Founder & Executive Director, Abeer Entertainment, Shri Prashant Negi. AIS, Saket bagged the first prize in both junior and senior categories while AIS, Mayur Vihar and AIS, Pushp Vihar bagged the second prize in junior and senior categories respectively. AIS, Vasundhara-1 and AIS, Vasundhara-6 were adjudged third in the junior and senior categories.

2016- 17 ->

April 28, 2017
The school organised an inter-Amity drama competition titled ‘Hindi Natya Utsav’ to develop dramatic skills and to promote acting ability among students. The programme presided over by Dr Indu Jain and Dr M K Pandey commenced with lamp lighting ceremony. The participants dressed in vibrant costumes enthralled the audience with their theatrical skills. The vote of thanks was given by school Principal Priyanka Mehta.

Hindi Natya Utsav

Report 2015:

Inter-Amity Hindi Natya Utsav was organized on Tuesday, 28th April, 2015. The programme was an initiative to kindle love for Hindi language and literature amongst Amitians, a belief close to the heart of respected Chairperson, RBEF, Dr.(Mrs.) Amita Chauhan. Dr. M.K. Pandey, Mr. Amitesh Kumar and Mr. Gaurav Pahwa graced the occasion as the special guests and judges for the occasion. Eight teams from all the Amity schools enacted plays based on the theme ‘Social Issues’. The first prize was won by Amity International School, Pushp Vihar while the second prize was won by Amity International School, Saket. AIS, Vasundhara, Sector 6, won the third prize while AIS, Noida won the consolation prize. The judges praised all the teams and appreciated their excellent performances. The programme concluded with the rendition of the school song and the national anthem by the school choir.

Each of the participating schools presented a play on a social issue. AIS PV emerged as the winner while the second and third prize was bagged by AIS Saket and AIS Vas 6 respectively.

  • Amity International School, Mayur Vihar celebrated a week long ‘Sanskrit Week’ starting from 20 August 2015 to 28 August 2015. The celebrations started with a grand fiesta “SUBHASHIKA”- an inter school Sanskrit competition. This endeavour is in tandem with CBSE’s directive to promote the language. The theme for the junior category participation was patriotic group song in Sanskrit. The senior category competed in skit presentation on the theme “Organ donation in ancient India”. The Chairperson- Amity Schools, Dr Amita Chauhan is a torch bearer in inculcating the love for the most ancient and scientific language. Subhashika is an embodiment of her vision towards making Sanskrit- the language of our forefathers popular amongst the present generation of learners. The event was graced by eminent personalities in the field of Sanskrit- Dr K. Anantha, Associate professor Dept of Vishishta Advaitavedanta, Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha and Dr. Ramchandra Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Nyaya. They were the judges for the event.

Amity Schools Art & Sculpture Teachers' Camp

In an effort to promote healthy competition and showcase the artistic skills of the art faculty and students as envisaged by Chairperson Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Amity Group of Schools organise a one-week art camp every year that culminates with an exhibition. The camp, based on a different theme every year witness’s active participation of teachers from all branches of Amity. Every year, the camp is graced by art connoisseurs who also judge the event and award the participants.

Each team comprising 3 students and a teacher in-charge worked on a masterpiece during the camp. The selective masterpieces were adjudged by famous artists.

Youth Power

The annual ethical leadership programme, initiated by The Global Times-Amity’s youth newspaper, aims at grooming students as harbingers of change. Young leaders from across all Amity International Schools work on different social issues related to women, by forming teams, researching topics, designing plans of action, generating funds and finally showcasing their work in the form of a presentation at the grand finale.

Youth Power team Bonetastic of school bagged the first runners up position in a tie with Youth Power team of AIS Gurugram 46 and also won the award for best social media engagement at Youth Power finale. This year’s Youth Power finale was graced by Ms. Maha Siddiqui, Associate Editor- Anchor, CNN –News 18 as the chief guest. The eminent jury comprised Dr. Joya Bhattacharya Associate Professor, Gargi College, Delhi University, Ms. Karina Bhasin Community Engagement Lead, Even Cargo & Delhi OYE and Ms. Runjhun Sharma Senior Correspondent, CNN-News18. Team Bonetastic with its team mentor Ms. Sonali Jain; team leader Prakhar Bhargava of Class XI; team members Prarthana Singhal, Ishita Gupta and Pranjal Jain of Class XI took up the cause of spreading awareness about bone diseases like osteoporosis, importance of maintaining good bone health and right kind of diet apart from dairy foods to maintain good bone health.

The winsome team mentored by Vandana Seth and lead by Nandini Sukhija (XI) along with Sarah Susan Varkey (XI), Aviral Arora (XI) and Khushi (XI) taught the people all about the benefits of adopting ‘organic livin’g as the way of life. Their vision to promote happy and healthy living won the team the award of ‘Youth Icon 2017-18’. They also won the award for ‘Best Social Media engagement’. A very prominent initiative of the team was distribution of organic pads and banning plastic tiffins, water bottles etc., in the school premises. The team also collaborated with Wasteroots to exchange old newpapers with air purifying flower plants. They also helped the primary section create a vertical garden made by planters created from old waste plastic bottles. Team also helped middle school children create beautifully designed paper coasters embedded with seeds.

2016-2017 ->

Team leader KuberSumra (X E) along with AashnaManocha ( X D), Oorja Mehta (X B) and Radha Agarwal (X F) with mentor teacher P Rohini took up the cause of spreading awareness on Hand Sanitization. The excellent work done by the team fetched them the Second Runners-Up trophy. The team was also adjudged first in the Best Research Strategy.

Amity International School, Mayur Vihar organized Subhashika, an Inter Amity Sanskrit Competition on 16th August, 2018 in the school auditorium. It was the eleventh edition of the initiative inspired by the vision of our esteemed Chairperson, Dr. Amita Chauhan, of kindling love for Sanskrit language among Amitians. Eight schools from all the branches of Amity schools contested keenly and presented recitation of Shlokas in the Junior Division and dramatization of the inculcation of values and respect for Indian Heritage in the senior category.

With this objective ‘Subhashika’- an inter school Sanskrit competition was introduced, hosted by AIS MV.

The school organised its tenth Inter-Amity Sanskrit Competition ‘Subhashika’ on August 18, 2017. The event is an initiative by Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, to foster love for Sanskrit language. The competition was divided into two parts on different themes. For juniors, it was recitation on ‘Guru Mahima’ and for seniors, it was a dance drama on ‘Pauranik Kathayein’. The event saw fabulous presentations put up by the students of all Amity Schools. The rolling trophy was bagged by AIS Pushp Vihar.

The annual Inter Amity Sanskrit competition 'Subhashika' was organised on August 24, 2016. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by chief guests Sudhishtha Kumar Mishra, Secretary, Sanskrit Bharti and Dr Pankaj Kumar Mishra, professor, St Stephen’s College. The competition was divided into two categories. For the junior category, it was recitation of ‘Vidya Mahima’ and for seniors, it was a dance drama on 'Krishna Bhakti'. AIS Mayur Vihar and AIS Saket bagged the first position in senior and junior category respectively. The rolling trophy was won by the host school which was passed on to AIS Saket.

The school celebrated ‘Sanskrit Week’ from August 20- 28, 2015. The celebrations commenced with ‘Subhashika’ where the rolling trophy was bagged by AIS Pushp Vihar, with students of Class VI-VIII winning the patriotic song competition and the students of Class IX-X securing second position in the theatre performance. The theme of their play was ‘Organ donation in ancient India’.The event was judged by eminent personalities from the field of Sanskrit. School principal Dr. Priyanka Mehta encouraged the students and appreciated their Sanskrit mentors for showing a healthy competitive spirit and organising a flawless event.
