WHY CHOOSE THE IGCSE ?

The IGCSE  programme of study:

*provides a broad knowledge-base and promotes lifelong skills;

*provides challenging courses of study, with a diverse yet balanced curricula;

*is a widely recognised national (comparable to Grade X exams in India, the CBSE, SSC, ISC,NIOS or equivalent) and international qualification; useful for those planning to study overseas;

*helps develop oral skills, analytical skills and encourages teamwork and initiative;

*involves a variety of assessment methods, including coursework, oral & listening tasks;

*provides a strong foundation for higher level, pre-university courses of study;
a good grade (ie C or above) in IGCSE  English as a Second Language is accepted for entry by almost all universities in the UK, many in the USA, Canada & Australia, as evidence of adequate competence in the English Language;

*CIE is a reputed examining body; it is part of the Cambridge Assessment Group, which is a non-teaching department of Cambridge University; it is a not-for-profit organisation offering international qualifications in more than 150 countries;

* In India, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), states that 5 passes at IGCSE Level ,with Grade C or above and at least 2 passes at A Level, is equivalent to a +2 stage qualification of an Indian board, giving access to bachelor degree programmes at Indian Universities; candidates intending to join Medical or Engineering degrees are required to have A Level passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths & English, in addition to 5 passes at IGCSE Level;

*Overseas and nationally, IGCSE Level leads to the study of the IB Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement & A Level (ie+2);


RECOGNITION

*THE CIE IGCSE & A LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS ARE RECOGNISED WORLDWIDE AND BY THE ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES (AIU).

*THESE TWO-YEAR PROGRAMMES OF STUDY ENCOURAGE THE APPLICATION OF SKILLS, INCLUDING INDEPENDENT RESEARCH, ANALYSIS AND CRITICAL THINKING.

*THE IGCSE  IS EQUIVALENT TO GRADE 10 OF THE CBSE, ICSE, ETC., AND QUALIFIES THE STUDENT FOR ANY +2 LEVEL OF STUDY, ie: THE IB DIPLOMA, ADVANCED PLACEMENT (USA) &  'A'/'AS' LEVEL (UK).

IGCSE Year 1 / GRADE 9

*Students will be placed in the appropriate level of Science, Mathematics and English (as a First Language/as a Second Language), based on their aptitude.

Students must study the three Core Subjects (English, Mathematics and Science).

Optional subjects may be chosen from each of the Groups 2 & 3.

*PE is compulsory.

Students at AMITY will study 8 subjects.

 

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL A LEVEL for 16-18 year olds;

International A Level offers a flexible and variety of subject choices. Students may opt for either a broad course of study or specialize in a particular area.
.
A wide range of assessment processes and techniques supplement formal written examinations—orals, practicals, projects and coursework.

Cambridge International A Levels are based on approximately 360 hours of guided learning over two years and are accepted as proof of academic ability to universities worldwide. A  Levels are highly specialized and a student may take 3 or 4 subjects.
