Science magic tricks and dispelling myths

At Amity teaching science serves its complete purpose only when the training goes beyond the classroom. In keeping with, science presentation for class five concluded successfully on 19th August, Saturday. It was graced by the presence of respected Principal ma’am, vice Principal and parents. Section A, C and E of class five were involved in this presentation. The topic for the presentation was “Science magic - dispelling myths”. It started with a skit about a village where a few quacks try to swindle the villagers by showing them some magic tricks. Further in the play it is shown how all the magic tricks were based on the scientific concepts. It also included an English song stressing on the importance of science in our lives. The skit ended with a rain dance full of joy and celebration. In an effort to involve parents as well, there was a small quiz for the parents which was entertaining and informative. Feedback was taken from the parent at the end of the performance.
100% participation was ensured. Children learnt various interesting scientific facts by actually doing the activities themselves. This exercise was very helpful in inculcating scientific temper in children and develop a questioning attitude. All in all it was a very useful exercise which brought children, teachers and parents together and encouraged healthy interaction.

RABINDRANATH TAGORE (20th August 2011)
“Amity fosters learning beyond books and classroom .Our visionary Chairperson Ma’am believes that learning is an ongoing & enjoyable process therefore to make her dream come true a Skit was organised for the students of class VI . The theme for the skit was “RABINDRANATH TAGORE”. Under which the life of Rabindranath Tagore was unfolded. 100% participation by the students gave opportunity to each child to showcase their talent and creativity.
It helped to boost their confidence and enhance their speaking skills, delivery of dialogues, thus ensuring all round development of each child.
The story line of the skit involved the childhood days of Rabindranath Tagore his education (Shanti Niketan) , his role as a poet, composer of national anthem, his views on education and patriotism.etc
Dedication of the students made the event successful. The parents were invited they were enthralled to see their children performing so well on the stage and appreciated the principal, vice principal and the teachers for organising such a grand function.
It taught the children the lesson of cooperation, team work & it proved to be an educative , enlightening experience for everyone.
