CELEBRATING HEALTH
Kindergarten children of our school had a day long presentation on ‘Health Food’, where the children learnt the importance of good eating habits and the value of health food. There was 100% participation by the students and the teachers and each child was given a chance to speak and talk about the subject of their group presentation. The children had a great learning experience as they came across the knowledge about the different kinds of fruits and vegetables and also bout the difference between the health food and the junk food. There were twelve different groups in the presentation were:
Fruit Salad - Children were making fruit salad on the spot and serving to visitors.
Sandwich making - Children used brown bread to make vegetable sandwich and mastered that art within no time.
Creepers - Children were dressed up and talking about the different fruits and vegetables which grow on creepers only.
Vegetable and fruits vendors with their fruits and vegetables (children dressed up)
Health food- Children dressed up and speaking about dairy products, cereals, eggs.
Sprout salad corner- Different kinds of sprouts and how healthy they are for us.
Say no to junk food – Children dressed up as different junk food and recited a rhyme about how harmful junk foods are.
Green Vegetables – All the green vegetables in one group, each one talking about themselves and their benefits.
Fruits on trees - All the fruits that grows on trees specifically – dressed up and talking about the fruits.
Underground Vegetables – All the vegetables which grow under the ground as roots.
Juice Center – Children were squeezing the juice from oranges and lemons on the spot and serving with a refreshing glass of juice, presenting and excellent alternative to aerated drinks.
Vegetable Printing Corner – Where the children were doing vegetables printing on handmade cards saying thank you to the parents and handling them on their way to exit after they had seen the presentation.
The parents of all the six sections were invited for them to witness the efforts of their young ones. All the parents felt that this is the right approach towards teaching the children a good habit or any good values as children learn best by practically doing things themselves, rather than in a classroom environment. Most of the parents were facing a problem with the eating habits of the children and felt that the school is making a really good effort to bring the children on the right path.
