Orientation Class V- IX


An orientation programme was held for the parents of students of classes V – IX on the 5th of April 2008.  It was a special effort on the part of the school to provide a common platform for an interaction between the parents the parents and the school. The purpose was to clarify any doubts or queries of the parents and also to given them an insight into the future proceedings of the new session.

The parents were welcomed by the Vice Principal Mrs. Ameeta Mohan ma’am and she outlined the events of the year ahead. She answered to all their questions and reiterated the principles and vales that Amity International School, Pushp Vihar stands for and reflects.

This interactive session was followed of a talk by Mrs. Bindu Selot who is a hard core educationist with an extensive experience of more than twenty years of working closely with parents and students wherein she had been instrumental in empowering the parents and children for the challenges that the are facing in this evolving and dynamic era.

The parents were quite impressed by the beautiful traditional song by the school choir and they heartily expressed their thanks to the school authorities for conducting such an enlightening programme.


KG ORIENTATION


The K.G. Orientation was held in Amity – Pushp Vihar on 4th April
2009. The parents were invited through a circular. The first time slot was allotted to the parents of four sections i.e. K.G. - A, B, C and D and the parents of K.G. - E, F and G attended the next session. The response was very encouraging as the parents were interested to know about the methodology of the school.
The special invitees were Ms. Priya Bedi (Counsellor) and Mr. Gaurav (Theatre in Education)
The session started with a warm welcome to all the parents by the Vice-Principal ma’am Mrs. Ameeta Mohan ma’am.  As the parents and the school are the two major influences on a child’s life, they have to be work as a team to build up the confidence and make the child independent. She stressed on having meals together, reading out mythological stories (preferably by grandparents) and avoid watching the television. The child should have a fixed study time, reading time and activity time. Ma’am also introduced the sports teachers –mini tennis, karate, skating, aerobics and yoga and spoke about the morning and afternoon coaching camps. 

 

Then the invitees and various teachers spoke one by one in the following sequence:

      1. Ms. Priya Bedi (Counsellor): She explained the importance of counseling not only for the children but also for the parents. Children should be encouraged and appreciated for whatever little they do.

      2. Mr. Gaurav (Theatre in Education): He discussed that Theatre is not only acting –it is something more. He gave the parents an activity which showed how our concentration can develop.

      3. Mrs. Latha Jayshankar (English): Children have to be familiar with the phonetic sound and this helps them to learn the language. The children are introduced to cursive writing and she explained the method of writing.
Children are encouraged to bring news and amazing facts which they are able to understand and share with the rest of the class.

      4. Mrs.Sangeeta Rai (Maths): Using different aids like jodo gyan, abacus etc., the parents were informed how maths concepts were introduced. They were also told how addition ,subtraction, greater/smaller concepts, ascending and descending order  were introduced through pictures, objects, greedy crocodile story, birthday story, going up the steps etc.

     5.Mrs. Dimple Gaur (Hindi): In Hindi, it was explained to the parents how we write in 5 lines and when we introduce any letter, we tell a story based on the words starting from that letter.

    6.Mrs.Sreela Sengupta (activities ): The parents were informed about the various activities extended to the children like Karate,Mini tennis, Skating, Computers, Clay Modelling, Western and Indian Music etc. Each activity played and important role in the all round development of the child.

The Orientation was a very interactive session. Parents came up with all kinds of queries which were nicely handled by our vice principal Ma’am.The parents were  happy with orientation and were satisfied to know about the school’s working.
