The Forensic Science Laboratory (Govt. of NCT of Delhi), New Delhi, India is a multi-disciplinary scientific organization that includes highly organized, trained professionals and well-equipped examination facilities as per ISO/IEC 17025: 2017. The Laboratory coordinates develop and disseminate new information to investigators and fraternity members of the Law Administration Agency through innovative scientific techniques to resolve the conventional and new pattern of crime. In addition, the Laboratory is requested to assist in the scientific investigations of crime scenes, provide training and sharing knowledge and assist with the reconstruction of a crime. The Laboratory prepares the forensic report for valuable evidence that contributes to the successful prosecution and conviction of criminals as well as to the exoneration of innocent people. With up-to-date technical, and knowledge features, as well as a space point of view, the Laboratory can expect to be accepted globally with a facility equal to the quality of work for which the Laboratory has become known. The Laboratory is also notified as Examiner of Electronic Evidence u/s 79A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 on 17.04.2018. by the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt of India.
Forensic Science has a cardinal role in criminal justice system. Crime prevention is a global issue and despite prodigious efforts by law enforcement agencies, there is a surge in crime statistics. Forensic experts assist in protecting and handling of the crime scene and in collecting the evidences of prime importance with the help of technology & scientific methods. They also testify as Expert Witness in courtroom proceedings. There is an intense need that new advancements and technologies must be employed as a tool for checking crime in effective way. FDP on “Current Trends in Forensic Science Research and Teaching” (Classroom to Expert Witness Box) is designed to supplement technical knowledge and real time problems of criminal Investigation amongst faculties, scientists and researchers. FDP will accouter participants with the skillset required education and criminal justice system and would help in nourishing research ideas based on real time problems in faculties, scientists/forensic experts and budding researchers, etc
