ABOUT THE AMITY INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE STUDIES AND RESEARCH:

With the unparalleled vision and dynamic leadership of our Founder President, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, the Amity Institute of Horticulture Studies Research AIHSR, was established in the year 2010. Horticulture is considered the engine of growth as it provides nutrition to the masses. Horticulture in India contributes about 30 % of Agricultural GDP and its growth is double-digit. The share of horticultural food has increased to more than 50 percent in the food basket of consumers. Therefore, this sector needs more attention from policymakers, research institutions, and the corporate sectors. Amity Institute of Horticulture Studies Research AIHSR, Noida offers various graduate courses as well as Post Graduate courses.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

As the world’s population continues to expand, traditional food production is under pressure due to changing climate and dwindling land and water resources. The horticulture sector may promise to ensure better food production via technological interventions to fight against food and nutritional security in developing countries. Technology is paving the way for the future of horticulture in other ways tool. New developments in high-tech greenhouse horticulture viz. sensors, energy solutions, covering materials, production technology, and robotics. The potential for digitalization is tremendous. Networked, automated gardens could allow individuals to remotely plan and manage their plots. Machine learning and big data management are key to gleaning further insights from the plant growth data collected in these controlled environments. It could be used to optimize light, soil conditions, plant spacing, or other variables that could further speed up the production cycle or help us produce more nutrient-rich food. Such data may shape algorithms and drive further optimization. For suppliers and customers, a reliable and optimized system can ensure planning security. Climate-smart horticulture, in conjunction with the most up-to-date crop improvement technologies utilizing genome-editing technology, is highly anticipated and seems to be promising. Nanoemulsions and nanomaterials for coating and packaging, Horti-waste valorization techniques, vertical farming, robotic harvesting, 3-D printing, in vitro seed production for vegetatively propagated fruit crops, and other innovations could transform the horticulture sector as a whole.
Thus, understanding the research and developments in horticulture science is vital in assessing sustainable systems. This conference shall provide the platform to discuss trends and innovations in the field. In this context, the Amity Institute of Horticulture Studies and Research on the eve of “Horticulture Day” announces an International Conference on Recent Advances in Horticulture Research (ICRAHoR-2022) scheduled to be held on 8-9 August 2022 at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida. The conference will be hosted in a hybrid mode. The Conference will bring together Scientists, Researchers, Entrepreneurs, Academicians, Nutritionists, Engineers, Horticulturists, Olericulturists, floriculturists, Breeders, Industrialists, Quality Analysts, and Technologists from all over the world to discuss the latest technological interventions, sustainable solutions for improving horticultural production, processing, nutritional security, quality, and supply chain resilience.

OBJECTIVES

The conference aims to provide a platform for ambitious new actions, innovative solutions and plans to transform the horticulture industry. It is envisioned that the conference will have objectives including:
  • To equip the researchers and students with the latest technology trends being followed in the horticulture sector.
  • To develop a framework to strengthen food and nutritional security via horticultural products.
  • To develop a deep insight into the molecular approaches, nanotechnology, and hi-tech horticulture
  • To acquaint the researchers and students with the latest concepts like vertical farming, robotics, and Big data, for the future.
  • To motivate research, industry, and academia to carry on challenging and innovative research and startup programs in the horticulture sector.
