Eminent Artist, Padma Bhushan Shri Jatin Das inaugurates “International Conference on Innovation in Visual Arts”, at Amity

Amity School of Fine Arts (ASFA), Amity University Noida campus organized an “International Conference on Innovation in Visual Arts” (ICIVA `2024) on the theme “Art Beyond Boundaries: Contemporary Art Practices in Visual Arts".

 

 

Inaugurating the Conference, Eminent Artist, Padma Bhushan Shri Jatin Das, averred, “India is an amazing country with diverse culture, traditions, languages, religions and cuisines. There is so much to learn from every part of our country since it has a rich heritage. Different art forms exist in different parts of the country, and each form is unique in its own way, whether its traditional, folk, tribal, classical or contemporary. Students must be rooted to their culture since there is a lot that they can learn from Indian culture There are two institutions for learning, one is your home, and the other is your institution and the role of both is extremely crucial in shaping your future.” He advised the students to remain alert, active and inquisitive so that they can enhance their knowledge and learning.”

 

 

Prof. Jon Jicha, Professor Emeritus, School of Art and Design, Western Carolina University, U.S.A, stated, “India is very close to my heart and Indian culture and art is well known all over the world. Students must enhance their knowledge and learn new techniques; however, they should have good knowledge about their own culture, traditions, values and should be clear about what they want to portray through their art.”

 

Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts, said, “Amity is committed to nurturing the creativity and talent of the students and the conference bears testimony to this commitment. This Conference is extremely significant since we have some great artists with us today who will share their insights, thoughts and perspectives on art.”

Eminent Artist Shri Satish Gupta, opined, “Technology is an integral part of lives today and its role can be seen in every field, whether its education, healthcare, finance or any other field. Visual Arts is an art from which can be further enhanced by suing technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, Digital Art and Virtual Reality. However, human touch is extremely significant, and every artist should add their personal touch while creating a work of art.”

 

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, asserted, “Amity is honoured to have eminent artists such as Shri Jatin Das, present here with us today. Their advice and guidance will be immensely beneficial for art students, therefore, and they must make the best use of this opportunity.”

 

Shri Ashish Kulkarni, Chairman, FICCI, Animation & Gaming, said, “Students of art must make their foundation strong and learn the basics well such as sketching, drawing, painting and photography. When your foundation is strong, you can become a great artist and new art techniques further enhance your creativity. Technology in arts will keep evolving, however, it the Emotional Intelligence which is more important than Artificial Intelligence.”

 

Welcoming the guests, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Joshi, Group Addl. Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University, said, “The Conference will be very helpful for the students to attain knowledge and learn about various art forms, from such renowned experts.”

During the Conference, Research Papers were presented by scholars from College of Art, New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, Scope Global Skills University, Bhopal, University of Baroda, Pearl Institute and Chandigarh University, amongst others. In addition, Technical Sessions on “Innovation in Art, Design and Animation”, “Visual Art Practice in 21st Century” and “Contemporary Art & Design Practice”, were also held.
