About the Conference

The higher education landscape is being redefined at a crucial point when sustainability and technology converge. The United States, a long-established pioneer in higher education, confronts ever-changing obstacles that require creative and inventive remedies. The trajectory of higher education has undergone tremendous evolution, starting from the amalgamation of the German Bridge University and Oxbridge residential college models at the founding of Harvard College, to the present-day investments in high-tech research parks and multiversities.

In response to the increasing cost inflation, innovative minds suggested new models. Clayton Christensen's influential book, "The Innovator's University," demonstrates how optimizing resources can reduce college expenses. However, the problem of unfinished degrees remains as millions of Americans halt their pursuit of higher education.

The endeavour to address this challenge entails utilizing technology and implementing sustainable principles. The use of online and hybrid course models by government programmes and prestigious institutions has led to the democratization of education access, specifically benefiting the middle class. In this context, sustainability goes beyond financial considerations and focuses on the benefits of investing in education, expanding job options, and increasing earning capacity.

Technology plays a crucial role by integrating courses focusing on entrepreneurial and technology skills, improving one's chances of finding employment. Recent innovations provide environmentally friendly solutions, revolutionizing the student loan industry. The borrowing paradigm is redefined through flexible repayment structures adjusted according to income growth, loans that do not require collateral, and risk assessment models that utilize digitalization and alternative data evaluation.
