(To trace the history till today highlighting the advancement in technologies assisted by electronics, computers, composite materials).

A round of laboratory showing various test facilities.

 

Second Day

Introduction to aircraft design bringing out the role of aerodynamics in design of aircraft.

Experiment: Flow visualization experiments in smoke tunnel and water tunnel.

 

Third Day

Propulsion system for aircraft (Types of engines, working principles)

Show the model of the jet engine and details of its various components.

 

Fourth Day

Introduction to Indian Space Programme and elements of Rocketery.

Defence Space Systems and Mini Satellites

 

Fifth Day  

Rocket Propulsion System (Working principle, solid rockets, liquid rockets, cryogenics)

Documentary on Chandrayan Mission. (2 short movies)

 

Sixth Day

Introduction to Airplane Performance, Description of Atmosphere, Airplane Stability and Control.

Experiments in sub-sonic wind tunnel.

 

Seventh Day

Airplane Structure Design (Airplane Materials, Preliminary Structural Design considerations, flight safety considerations Visit to structural laboratory).

 

Eighth Day 

Continuation of Airplane structure, Aero-modeling etc.

 

Ninth Day

Introductory lecture on Space Transportation System and concepts of re-usable launch vehicles.

OR

A visit to Airport/Air Force museum (If it can be arranged).

 

Tenth Day  

Concluding Session

(A short test/quiz and Valedictory Function)
