Amity Law School organizes National Seminar on "Intellectual Property Rights Law - The Emerging Trends"

Amity Law School AUMP organised a one day National Seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights Law- The Emerging Trends” on 29/1/2016. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt General Shri V K Sharma, AVSM (Retd.) presided over as the Chief Guest in the inaugural session. Gen Sharma introduced the topic, described  the development of IPR Laws from historic perspectives and emphasised on the study of IPR to the gathering.

In the first session of the seminar, the keynote speaker  was Prof. Afzal Wani, Dean, Faculty of Law, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. He explained  the need of IPR in day to day life in a very interesting way.. He pointed out the need of the knowledge of IPR for the common man. He insisted on that documentation work is done in a very scattered manner throughout India. He stressed on the importance of getting things patented, as very often Indians have  failed in getting their innovations patented.

In  the Second session of the seminar Ms. Vishalakshi Vegesna, Associate Professor of Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, discussed the IPR vis a vis Competition Laws and explained how the weaknesses in IPR affect  India’s perspectives in the competitive business world. Also a senior scientist of M.P. Council of Science & Technology, Bhopal guided the participants on the registration aspect of Intellectual property. With the case studies he explained how a simple innovation may lead to establishment of a successful industry.  Then Ms. Anuradha Singh, Advocate, M.P. High Court spoke on litigation aspect of IPR in case of disputes. Thereafter, participants presented their research papers in 5 parallel Sessions. These sessions were presided over by Prof. Sanjay Kulshrestha, Dean (Law), Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Prof. V. K. Shrotriya, HOD, M.L.B. College of Excellence, Gwalior, Ms. Vishalakshi Vegesna, Associate Professor , Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, Dr. Pradeep Kulshrestha, Sharda Unniversity, New Delhi and Ms. Anuradha Singh, Advocate, M.P.High Court. In total, 50 papers were presented in the Seminar.

The chief guest for the Valedictory ceremony was Hon’ble Justice Rohit Arya of M.P. High Court. In his speech His Lordship appreciated the efforts of Amity Law School .Also he guided the students about the course of dealing with IPR related matters as legal professionals. He also encouraged get equipped  with in-depth study of the subject material and a wide variety of cases for the growing industry demand of IPR Professionals. His speech cum motivational lecture was followed by a concluding speech by Mrs Bharti  Sharma, Convener of the Seminar. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. S.P. Bajpai, Dean, School of Law and Dean Research, AUMP. The Seminar was a huge success imparted valuable information on IPR  and creating awareness amongst people towards IPR.
