Amity School of Fine Arts, Amity University Gurgaon organized an art exhibition at National Museum, New Delhi on the theme of “GANGA River of Life Eternity” to showcase the Painting, Sculpture, Digital Art and Installation and Video Art etc to spread awareness on saving Ganga River and explores the briefs, histories, traditions, arts and cultures of India that emanate from Ganga as a river and a Goddess. Exhibition was inaugurated by Prof Lokesh Chandra (Chief Guest) on 19th May, 2017 at Special Exhibition Gallery, National Museum, New Delhi.

Painting in the exhibition showcased that Somewhere in our quest for materialistic pleasures in life we have lost our spiritual being. River Ganga revered as a Goddess has a spiritual significance in Hinduism with millions taking a dip into its holy waters to wash away their sins. Unfortunately industrialization, urbanization coupled with our callous attitude of neglect has made this holy river one of the most polluted river.

The painting represents a contradictory interaction between the natural and the artificial. It depicts river Ganga fading away in the background while materialistic and physical pleasures as represented by the ‘bottled water’ take centre stage.  It is ironical that though we have a river of spiritual knowledge flowing right in front of us we resort to bottled water to quench our thirst said Dr. Ranjan Mallik, HOD, Amity School of Fine Arts. He also  showcased his work of contemporary painting. Mr. Rakesh Chaudhary , Mr. Umesh Nayak & Mr. Abhijit Mohanty, Faculty, Department of Print Making, Amity School of Fine Arts also showcased their exemplary work of Paintings
