Amity University Gurgaon successfully organized5-day event- Innovation in SciencePursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) from 26 to 30 November, 2013

The event was inaugurated by the AVM (Dr.) AjitTyagi, Former Director General- India Meteorological Department, Ministry ofEarth, Government of India and the Guest of Honour, Dr Shashi Wadhwa, Retd.Dean- AIIMS, Prof. Department of Anatomy. Speaking on the occasion, the chiefguest AVM (Dr) Ajit Tyagi congratulated Amity University Gurgaon for givingboost to nurturing the new and young talent in Science and Technology.

 AmityUniversity Gurgaon organized INSPIRE third time on its huge green eco-friendlycampus .This event witnessed eminent members of the institution and pioneers inthe field of science and technology who enlightened the young minds pursuingtheir senior school about the scope of science in the coming era. 11 schoolsfrom Delhi/NCR participated in the event with 230 registration of students.

The highlights of the 5 day event were the presenceof glitterati of globally renowned scientists like Dr K L Chopra, FormerDirector, IIT, Kharagpur & Founder, Thin Film Laboratory, IIT Delhi &Microscope Laboratory, IIT Kharagpur; Dr. Shashi Wadhawa, Retd. Dean AIIMS; Dr.A.B. Bhattacharya, BHU, Varanasi, Dr. Monika Kaul, Assistant Professor,Department of Botany, Hans Raj College, University of Delhi;  Dr. G.S. Sodhi, Associate Professor, Universityof Delhi, Dept. of Chemistry; Prof.(Dr) S.K. Dube, Dean Faculty of Science& Technology, Dr. J.P. Dudeja, Director, Amity Institution of LaserTechnology & Optoelectronics; Maj Gen. V.K. Narang, Director, Amity Schoolof Engineering & Technology; Ms Anju Khanna, Regional Manager, SpaceTechnology and Education Pvt. Ltd also interacted and shared their expertisewith the young minds.

Thefive day Internship Programme ended with a Valediction Ceremony wherein Dr.Vikas Madhukar, Dy. Director ABS and Director-Events AUG presented a synopsison the programme and he gave an overview about the aims, objectives andday-to-day activities of INSPIRE, followed by remarks by the Schoolcoordinators and experience of the school students.

TheChief Guest for the day Dr. Akhilesh Gupta, Former Secretary, UGC, Currentlyadvisor to the Union Ministry for Science & Technology & EarthSciences, Coordinator Climate Change-DST (Govt. of India) spoke about the needof innovation in Science, mushrooming of Engineering colleges.
