Amity Institute of Pharmacy(AIP) organizes a Patient Solidarity Day on 07th December, 2018

 The International Alliance of Patients Organizations (IAPO) has been celebrating the Patient Solidarity Day (PSD) every year on 7th December. The major focus of PSD celebrations is to create awareness amongst the public, other healthcare providers, and to advocate Safe Medication and Health Care for All. Patient exposure to unsafe medication and healthcare is a chronic public health issue that results in delayed care, disease progression, increased mortality and antimicrobial resistance. Every patient has a right to receive medication and healthcare that are safe, effective, and legitimate. With this end in view, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior, celebrated  Patient Solidarity Day on 10th December, 2018

The programme started with the inaugural ceremony by scaling making blessings of goddess of wisdom, Maa Saraswati. The brief introduction about PSD was given by Dr. Ajay Sharma Professor (Officiating HOI), AIP. Dr. Ajay Sharma discussed about safe and effective medication as well as how to spread awareness among the people to combat antibiotic resistance.

The guest lecture started with an expert talk of Dr. S.K. Verma (Scientist, DRDE, Gwalior). Dr. Verma discussed about the basics of Immunology and Microbiology. He also discussed various principles of antimicrobial resistance. In his talk he also covered various cases and reports related to antibiotic resistance involving superbugs which are published in various publications of international and national repute. He explained about various strategies to combat multidrug resistance using synthetic, semi-synthetic and natural approaches. He also shared with the audience was news on the role of young budding pharmacist to spread awareness among the society to combat antibiotic resistance and increase overall health status of individuals.

Dr. S.K. Verma was felicitated by IAPO and ACPI-KSPOR with a memento as a token of remembrance. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Pawan Kumar Gupta, Assistant Professor, AIP. This programme was successfully planned and organized with the co-ordination of Dr. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Dr. Pawan Porwal, Dr. Naveen Sharma and other staff members of AIP.
