"Metagenomic Analysis for Microbiome Composition and Diversity"

AIMT, organized a one day workshop on Metagenomic Analysis for Microbiome Composition and Diversity. In session I, Prof. (Dr.) G. K. Aseri, Dy. Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director-AIMT welcomed resource person, Dr. Sivalingham Ananadhan, ICAR National Fellow by presenting bouquet. Dr. Neeraj Khare (Organising Secretary) has given brief outline of workshop to participants. Dr. Anandhan briefed about the ongoing research activities and future research opportunity at ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune.

In session II, Dr. Anandhan has discussed the importance of effective methods for the study of the diversity, distribution, and behavior of microorganisms for a broader understanding of microbes role in ecosystem or human or plant system. He enlightens us about the importance of metagenomics in current scenario and emphasized on emerging research field of science which is the utilization of direct high throughput sequencing (NGS) of environmental samples for the assessment of microbial community composition and diversity of microbiome.

Session III was focused on hands-on work for interpretation of metagenomic datasets using QIIME. Dr. Anandhan explained whole process step by step in jolly atmosphere.

The event concluded with the felicitation of Dr. Anandhan with Amity memento and vote of thanks proposed by Dr. J. S. Sohal. He has also given thanx to Dr. Deepansh sharma, Dr. Parul Yadav and research scholar for making event successful.
