10th Conference on YEAST BIOLOGY Model Yeasts to Fungal Pathogen

Amity Institute of Biotechnology of Amity University Gurugram organized 10th Conference on YEAST BIOLOGY Model Yeast to Fungal Pathogen in association with Jawaharlal Nehru University on from 8-11 February, 2018 under the guidance of

Prof. K. Natarajan, JNU (Convenor), Prof. Alok Mondal, JNU, Prof. Sneha Sudha Komath, JNU, Dr. Sneh Lata Panwar, JNU, Dr. Kaustuv Datta, UDSC, Dr. Naseem Gaur, ICGEB, Prof. K. Muniyappa, IISc, Prof. P.N.Rangarajan, IISc, Prof. Usha Vijayraghavan, IISc and Dr. Nishant K.T., IISER-vm.

Dr Rajendra Prasad, Director Amity Institute of Biotechnology introduced all the dignitaries and briefed that the meeting was organized by School of Life Science, JNU & Amity University Gurugram. This event witnessed 100 plus Indian Yeast & Fungal biological group leaders. He also briefed that Yeast meeting is a bi-annual event since 2002 and over the years has attracted most Indian and several foreign scientists interested in all facets of biology using yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and other fungal organisms. It is noteworthy that in the recent years there has been a considerable increase in the number of PIs in India working on yeast or other fungal organisms covering various aspects of biology, including fundamental and of medical/biotechnology relevance.

During the meeting several MoU for collaboration for Research & Book Papers and Book Chapter were signed and many collaboration (ICGEB, JNU, IISc and IISER) were discussed with the young yeast community researchers. Collaboration had been done for funded projects and joint projects with RCB, Faridabad and Amity University Gurugram submitted to DBT.

Students were exposed to best science and got highly motivated by excellent talks given by reputed yeast researchers.
