Workshop on Sustainable Design- Up cycling and Repurposing

Workshop on Sustainable Design- UP cycling and Repurposing was organized by Amity School of Fashion Design & Technology and Amity Institute of Design on 12th February, 2018 to give them sound exposure to the concept of Sustainable Design and different perspectives of Sustainability in Design under the guidance of Ms. Ranul Kamboj, Ms. Bharti Pahuja and Ms Shankhalina Choudhury.

Briefing about the workshop Mrs. Sunidhi Sood, HOD Amity School of Fashion Design & Technology had shared that the workshop was organized to introduce the concept of Sustainability, up cycling and re-purposing, so they can incorporate the knowledge in their upcoming projects. Workshop was divided in two parts in which first part consist the understanding on sustainability in interiors and as well as fashion and various terminologies are also introduced and second part was more focused on practical aspect in which students were divided in group and each group needs to collect some waste material and perform the task of re-cycling and up-cycling on collected material. The teams were given exact five hours to work on their final product. In the initial hours, the student sorted and processed the material. Then they went on to make the final products.

The workshop ended with “presentation” by each group telling about their product in terms of durability, aesthetics, materials description and others. The workshop not only helped students to understand the meaning of sustainability and the need of up cycling but also made them understand the importance of team work.
