Korean language Students of Amity School of Language participated in the Hangeul Day celebration

The students of Korean language course at Amity University Gurgaon were invited to participate in the Hangeul Day celebration organised at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Hangeul Day is celebrated every year on the 9th of October to commemorate the invention of the Korean script. JNU honoursthe importance of the event and celebrates with great pomp and show. The students of Korean Language, Amity University Gurgaon enthusiastically participated in the 2-days event. They were accompanied by their faculties Ms Geetika Agrawal and Mr Kunal Anand.

On 9th of October, the students participated in the All India Korean Singing Competition. There were 60 participants who came from different parts of the country. From AUG, 3 students participated;

  1. Lalzemkai Touthang – B.A. English - 5th Sem
  2. Nandini Kukreti – Bsc. Clinical Psychology – 3rd Sem
  3. Anubhuti Jain – B.ASLP- 3rd Sem

All the participants received a certificate of appreciation along with a memento- gold-plated bookmark sponsored by ‘Jikji- Korean Company for World’s oldest printing machine’.

On 10th October, there was a Korean cultural program which was inaugurated by JNU’s Vice-Chancellor, KCCI’s director and other eminent dignitaries. There were various cultural events like the traditional fan dance, taekwondo, Korean songs, Indian folk dances etc. Students from various universities like JNU, DU, KCCI along with Amity University participated in the cultural evening organised by JNU.

Students of AUG performed a K-Pop item which was a medley of 3 Korean songs sung along with Karaoke and guitar.

Aug student’s performance was well appreciated by the audience. 52 students from Amity University attended the cultural evening programme on 10th October at JNU.

The students got the first-hand experience of interacting with native Korean speakers (teachers and students). They also soaked and revealed in the unique beauty of Korean culture through their participation in cultural programmes. The overall experience was very fruitful as not only were the faculty and students of AUG recognised for their profound efforts in the field of Korean Studies, but the students also found it to be immensely enriching and educative.
