Guest Lecture on Technology Development

Amity School of Engineering & Technology, Amity University Gurgaon organized a guest lecture of on Technology Development for its students of Biomedical by Dr Roy Professor (Computational Neuroscience & Neuroimaging Laboratory, School of Bio-Medical Engineering), Indian Institute of Technology, B.H.U., Varanasi on 14th September. He has served also as a Research Scientist at the University of Connecticut, and Clinical Associate Professor at Medical College of Wisconsin, USA and Dr Roy has also received the Tata Innovation Fellowship Award.

Dr Roy begins his session with the brief of the wide area of Biomedical fields. He said that Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field of education to solve the problem of healthcare and biological systems.  The field of biomedical includes all medical equipment used in hospital, implantable & wearable healthcare devices, clinical diagnosis & analysis techniques, and futuristic technologies as stem cell technology, 3-D printing of biological organs, etc.

He had suggested that a bio-medical engineer must have problem-solving and research instinct, Analytical attitude. They act as a bridge between upcoming technologies and doctors, patients or researcher. Although this field is related with medical but basically, it’s an engineering discipline so you must be good in mathematics.

Dr Roy concluded his session with the statement that students have a great scope in the newly emerging field of medicine such as Bioinformatics, Biomechanics, Biomaterial, Biomedical optics, tissue engineering, Genetic Engineering, Neural Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medical Devices, Bionics, Radiology, Medical Imaging, etc. In statistics, we found there is 12% growth in job creation in the field of biomedical each year.
