6th International Conference on “Signal Processing and Integrated Networks (SPIN-2019)”

Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) organized the 6th International Conference on “Signal Processing and Integrated Networks (SPIN-2019)” at Amity University, Noida Campus with an aim to bring together Scientists, Academicians and Industrialists working on innovative advancements and development in the domain of Signal Processing, Robotics and Embedded Technology, Computational Electromagnetism, RF and Microwave, VLSI and Micro-Electronics Power System Modeling etc. to discuss new concepts, challenges and opportunities in the industry and endorse research work among students.

The two-day International Conference witnessed the participation of more than 38 International delegates and keynote speakers from countries such as USA, U.K, Canada, Egypt, China, Germany, Vietnam, Iran, Romania, Japan, Spain, Iran, Singapore, Oman, Bulgaria, Israel, Italy, Taiwan and Sweden amongst others. A total of 227 research papers were presented by researchers and scholars from across the globe. SPIN-2019 also featured 38 Oral Paper Presentation sessions, 7 Special Technical Sessions and more than 20 Poster Presentations during the two-day conference.

Welcoming the dignitaries and the keynote speakers, Professor Raj Kamal Kapur, Deputy Director and Head (ECE and E&T) & Conference Chair, Spin 2019 said that it was a moment of great honor and pride for him to welcome such distinguished galaxy of scientists, researchers and scholars from various countries at Amity University. He said that “During this two-day conference, I want our students to gain the maximum benefit and this is definitely going to be an exceptional platform for the students of Amity to gain some vital learning experiences.”

Prof. (Dr) M.K Pandey, Joint Head – Amity School of Engineering and Technology and General Chair, SPIN- 2019 apprised about major sessions that SPIN 2019 would witness, this included – Session on Plagiarism and Ethical issues, Special Session on Funding opportunities, Technical exhibitions, Design Thinking etc. He exclaimed that this International conference will bring laurels to Amity University and its students.

Dr. Sunita Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University averred that the conference would prove to be beneficial for all the Engineering students studying at Amity. She conveyed her regards to all the dignitaries, scientists, scholars and researchers who would be participating in the event.

The guest of honor, Dr. Kazuya Kobayashi, Chuo University, Japan said that it was a great honor for him to be at Amity. He shared that over the last 4 decades, technology has witnessed manifold advancements and the systems developed today are not limited to physical world, opening avenues for virtual environment. He stressed that presently, the development and innovations in technology are based on exploring new area and ability to create applications which are relevant to human use. He averred that Amity University has been very actively involved in organizing such fruitful conferences. “As Amity is one of the top Indian Universities, I want that the scientific activities taking place here, should expand”, he added.

The Chief Guest on the occasion, Professor Raj Mittra, University of Central Florida, USA apprised that the conference will focus on the topic of artificial synthesis of materials and present some real-world examples of their practical implementation. Unlike many other previous works on metamaterials (MTMs), our focus is on developing and utilizing materials which operate away from the resonance range of the particles. Hence, they are not narrow band, dispersive and loss, as some of the earlier versions of MTMs. He averred that in the current scenario, India has become the powerhouse in the Asia-Pacific region and its spirit as a country has transformed completely. He expressed his gratitude to Amity University and the organizers for organizing such an event which would render the students a global exposure.

Addressing the students, Mr. Dilip Kumar Sharma, Professor, IEEE said that this conference is a very good opportunity for you to update and upgrade your knowledge. “Feel free to share your problems and give suggestions and keep on building networks which would help you in your careers.” He said that the technological researches which are being conducted today, will play a vital role in shaping the future of mankind.

The second day of the conference witnessed thought provoking and interactive technical sessions which added to the knowledge of the students. Eminent industrialist and technocrats from various fields participated during the valedictory session of SPIN – 2019.

Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity University said that signal processing and integrated network is such an area which has no limit for research, it has no saturation point. He called upon the scientist and researchers to be in constant touch with the university and guide the youngsters.

Sharing his thoughts, Mr. Arun Malik, Director – Quality, Airtel opined that there are three major challenges that the industry is going to experience in the near future. He apprised that the automobile industry is soon going to be electric, therefore we need to find a solution for the vehicles that run on diesel. The second challenge was to sync with the changes that are taking place because of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and third and the most important was developing sanitation in India.

Dr. Kaushik Saha, CTO, Samsung apprised that there is going to be a sudden proliferation in the number of connected devices in the future. He said that in the field of signal processing and integrated network 5-G would prove beneficial because of its high bandwidth. He averred that the youth today, must also try to develop good human network because for any organization to succeed, people’s support is a must.

Honorary Professorship were conferred to Dr. Alvaro Rocha, Dr. Raj Mittra, Dr. Kazuya Kobayashi, Prof. Joan Jose Garcia and Dr. Giuliano Manara.

12 technical tracks and 7 Special Sessions were also held during the conference on topics such as Wireless Communication, Cloud Computing, Robotics and Embedded Systems, Photonics and Optical Communication, Sensors and Sensor technology, Computational Bio-apps, 5G and IoT amongst others.
