Amity Institute of Education starts training program for 500 teachers teaching the underprivileged children

Teachers are required to update knowledge about the latest happening in the field of education. As a result, they require pedagogical skills and need to be aware of novel techniques and resources available to facilitate teaching and learning.

Teachers also require a sound command of their teaching discipline and need to update their knowledge as well as skills on regular basis via in-service training programmes. Equipped with this latest knowledge and enhanced teaching skills, teachers are more likely to provide challenging activities and stimulating environment to their students for effective learning.

While the progressive schools with sound financial background are able to provide necessary resources and exposure to their teachers thereby enhancing their knowledge and skills, the same is not a reality for the schools running for underprivileged children even when the needs of these children are the same as of those of their brethren.

It has been observed that the teachers working with underprivileged children have a need of:

• Developing proficiency in teaching skills,
• Acquainting themselves with the latest trends in the field of teaching-learning,
• Enhancing their communication skills, &
• Developing an understanding about efficient utilization of available resources.

Amity Institute of Education (AIE) in its pursuit to enhance the quality of teachers, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) has started a programme of training 500 teachers in the National Capital Region (NCR) working for the education of the underprivileged children under a project granted by a foreign government in September 2006.

This programme is designed to provide a useful and interesting learning experience for teachers where they will be trained in adopting latest methods, techniques, approaches and strategies for enhancing their teaching skills and efficiency. Under this training, two-day long workshop is being organized for these teachers and they are being trained in the various aspects of actual classroom teaching learning process. The various facets of this training include:

 Adoption of Action Research for identifying and resolving classroom problems,
 New teaching techniques and skills,
 Process of providing Guidance and Counseling to these children,
 Enhancement of their communication skills,
 Stress management, &
 Handling Adolescent problems.
