First Counsellors Meet “To Children I Give My Heart” organized by AmityCare

AmityCARE, the Amity Group endeavor to channelise the young lives into right direction, organized Counsellors’ Meet “To Children I Give My Heart” at India International Centre, New Delhi. AmityCARE is a link between the student community and the professional world. It provides proficient guidance and due exposure to the aspiring students thereby equipping them to clear the uncertainty created by information overload and choose the right career. Online Counselling is provided to the students so that they can find an answer to their question at the click of a mouse.”

Inaugurating the Counsellors Meet, Dr. Kiran Bedi, DG - Home Guards & Director- Civil Defence lauded the commendable efforts of AmityCARE, and said, “The main role of the Counsellor is invoke “WHY” in students. Before we reach out to a wider section of children we as educationist, teachers and counselors has to find out answers of “WHY”. Today there is a question in every aspect and students wants an answer. Counsellors need to believe in themselves so that the child believes in them and she advised counselors, parents and teachers to answer the why’s of student and to sharpen their tools of knowledge, guidance so that they sharpen the skills of children and help them visualize. Children are on the threshold of their life and career. Youth is the foundation of the country. On their shoulder lies the future of the country. So if their inherent talent and interest is identified and put into right direction then we can build the nation on strong lines”, commented Dr. Bedi. While thanking the audience, she made an appeal to all specially teachers, to volunteer themselves for Civil Defence Programme and learn techniques to handle disasters, self defence and discipline which can later be imbibed in the students.

Dr. Ashok Chauhan, Founder President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF), shared his thoughts about AmityCARE and said, “It is an initiative to share Amity’s concern for education through a special outreach programme to impact young lives. Frequent Career Guidance sessions nurture the students’ personality. Gradually, the child is steered towards the subject of his choice, hence increasing the chance of achieving excellence, manifold. Such sessions aim at personal as well as professional growth of the students.”

The meet included Paper Presentations on the topics “Humor and EQ”, “Adolescent lifestyle and smoking” and “Emotional maturity in school goers” and interactive workshop on “Spiritual Intelligence and Emotional Freedom Technique” by Dr. Bhavna Barmi, Sr. Clinical Psychologist, Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre”. Apart from these, panel discussions were held on the topic “Sex Education in Schools in which dignitaries like Dr. Roma Kumar, Cinical Pyschologist, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital; Mr. Abhinav Chaturvedi, Media Personality and Dr. Reema Sehgal, School Counsellor participated. This meet was a huge success with the presence of Principals and Counsellors from over 100 schools of Delhi both private and government, teachers, psychologists and senior officials from the Government.
