As the country gears up for infrastructure upgrade, demand for quality civil engineers is on the increase. This calls for an optimum blend of industry exposure and technical know-how in the students-to-be-engineers. At department of civil engineering, we groom the students to be industry ready professionals. It is our continuous endeavor to produce system thinkers and problem solvers. The course curricula is a mix of analytical insights, quantitative abilities and experiential learning which is updated regularly, based on recent advances and demands of the industry. The department has well equipped laboratories with modern sophisticated instruments.

As per the demand and supply assessment of specialized skill sets in built environment carried out by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the report on 'Real Estate and Construction Professionals in India by 2020' indicates the requirement of approx. 4.27 million civil engineers per year to meet the real estate and infrastructure requirements of the country.

Smart Cities Mission, Green & Sustainable Infrastructure, Expressways, Metro Rail Projects, Sea Link, Sky Bridge are few infrastructure development of the country. Do you want to be a part of such infrastructure modernization and development?

Do you ever wonder, how it would have been without Bhakra-Nangal Dam, Howrah Bridge, Border roads, Indira Gandhi Canal or for that matter cement and reinforcement?

Do you have eminent engineers like Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, Thomas Telford, Olive Dennis, Elmina Wilson, George Stephenson, M. Visvesvarayya, E. Sreedharan as your role model?

Choose to be a civil engineer who is the solution provider for infrastructure related problems and creates an impact on the societal development.

HOD MESSAGE

It gives me immense pleasure to lead the department of Civil Engineering. The department was established in the year 2008 to cater the ever increasing demand of civil engineers in industry and academia and has served all concerned to their fullest expectations. The students are groomed to be thorough professionals with blend of up-to-date technical knowledge and field experience gained during internship. Various courses like Advanced Foundation Engineering, GIS and Remote Sensing, Repair Rehabilitation & Retrofitting, Earthquake Resistant Design, to name a few, have been included as a part of curriculum to keep pace with the emerging fields. The department has tied up with various skill councils related to construction industry for offering skill based courses which will make our students to excel over others. The framework of the programmes provide ample opportunities to the students to train themselves as researcher, thinker, job-seeker, entrepreneur, or innovator based on their passion. Highly successful alumni are our certificate of excellence. They are placed as Assistant Director, CWC (IES officer), specification consultant, structural engineer, executive planner etc. Every year around 20% of our undergraduate students qualify and pursue higher education from premiere institutes of India like IITs, NITs and several international universities of US, UK and Australia. We at Amity strongly believe in holistic development of students which includes imparting basic military training through short term courses. The students are provided with ample opportunity to get global exposure in the field of civil engineering through study abroad programme. The value based education drives our students to be competent and creative leaders of tomorrow.
