About Course
We at ASCO believe in
an education, which is both knowledge and utility
oriented. All pains are taken to update its
course-contents on a regular basis,increase
the practical components of its professional
training, and bring the institute as close to
the industry as possible.
Journalism training cannot come through merely
lecturing on press laws or on basics of editing
and reporting. It has to be performative, interactive
and production oriented.
The budding journalists of ASCO are given regular
practical exercise to accomplish the same on the
following:
- Editing PTI copies,
which are checked by the prominent journalists
- Writing reports and features
as per the bear or subject assigned
- Running a six monthly
feature magazine
- Producing documentaries
under professional guidance
- Producing a fortnightly
e-zine
- Freelancing for national
newspaper like HT, TOI ,PIONEER, HINDU etc.
This ensure the students practice what they are
taught. The curriculum provides The students with
a firm grounding in the core elements and The
techniques of print and electronic journalism
keeping in mind The rapid advancement in news
coverage patterns and The need for infotainment
Dissertation
/ Research Every journalist is a researcher
basically. Therefore, its imperative part of
The students to imbibe an inquisitive attitude
that impels them to read between The lines and
aspire them to 'Revel' The most 'unrevealed'.
Considering this The students are required to
do a research project towards The end of The
semester devoted to their area of specialisation.
This way The students scrutinize The various
issues confronting The media today and reach
to a logical solution. |
