GT Picture it Photo contest 7

The 7th edition of GT Picture-It Photo Contest organized every year around Independence day based on the theme ‘A day in the life of an Indian’ received an enthusiastic response. The competition organized under the aegis of The Global Times, open to Amity Group of Schools and Amity University students received over 200 entries. It was judged by an eminent photographer Aarti Uppal Singhla. The best entries were also published in The Global Times issue dated August 20, 2018.

GT Photography workshop

October 8, 2018
Fifty budding photographers including the GT Photo editors of respective schools from all branches of Amity International Schools took part in a photography workshop organized under the aegis of The Global Times, Amity’s student newspaper. An initiative of Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, it aimed at nurturing and instilling budding photographers with the finer nuances of photography skills. The workshop conducted by an eminent photographer Aarti Uppal Singhla focused on the topic - Composition of a good photograph and concluded with a question and answer session. The occasion also marked the felicitation of the winners of GT Picture-it Photo Contest 7.

Capacity Building Programme on History

August 30-31, 2018
CBSE organized a two day Capacity Building Programme on History conducted by Ms Anita Raina and Ms Priyanka Sharma. Total 35 teachers from different schools across Delhi /NCR participated in the workshop. The objective was to share and discuss instructional strategies to meet various learning objectives of History lessons. Teachers got to evaluate their own teaching styles through various group activities like mind maps, crossword puzzles, quiz, role plays, making lesson plans, sharing personal experiences, etc.

Senior annual day

October 12, 2018
Senior school annual day based on the theme ‘एक सोच’-Every Drop Counts’ was celebrated with aplomb. The event commenced with the orchestra Suramrit, comprising 250 Amitians playing a a blend of Indo – Western musical harmony. School Principal, Mrs. Aarti Chopra presented the annual report and ‘Victory saga’ celebrated achievements of all the students who had won accolades. An exhibition named Tarangini based on rivers, Gond paintings and famous temples of Orissa and Chhattisgarh was put on display. Almost 1800 children from Class VI-IX & XI presented mesemerising cultural show.

Hepatitis day

December 4, 2018
Institute of liver and Biliary sciences, New Delhi, celebrated 21st Hepatitis day based on theme ‘Detecting Hepatitis-The Missing Segments’. The event was graced by eminent dignitaries like Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Universe and Ms. M C Mary Kom, World Boxing Champion among others. ILBS had organised three interschool competitions namely poster making, slogan writing and mono acting. Students from different Amity schools emerged winners in all of them. Overall, more than 300 students from various eminent schools across Delhi / NCR participated in these competitions.

Tech Talk

October 4, 2018
Students of Class IX attended the Tech Talk held at AUUP by tech genius Tanmay Bakshi, a 15 year old tech wizard, who started coding at the age of four and is a known name in neural networking and machine learning. Students had an insightful interactive session with the youngest cognitive and cloud computing developer, who has built applications engineered to augment human capabilities via deep learning.

Capacity Building Programme

Monday, 27 – 28 August, 2018
A workshop to apprise teachers with the latest changes in Accountancy syllabus of class XII as per CBSE was conducted by Mr. Sehrawat- Deputy Commissioner Kendriya Vidyalya Sangathan and Ms. Kriti Palit- an academician. 48 teachers from various CBSE affiliated schools attended the session. The key points covered in the session were latest blue print given by CBSE, balanced paper setting techniques, interesting teaching methodologies, teaching aids and to discuss the project work guidelines issued by CBSE. Mr. Sehrawat discussed the common errors committed by the students in all the topics of syllabus by giving complete clarification on the expected answers by CBSE. A lot of stress was laid on following the NCERT books.
 
Lighting of the ceremonial lamp was done Mr. Sehrawat and Ms. Kriti Palit Innovative teaching pedagogies like introduction of crossword puzzles and Accountancy Tambola were discussed during the session.
   

Annual Indian Space Settlement Design Competition

November 17-19, 2018
A team of eight students has won first prize in INSSDC competition. Students had to design a contract for habitat to collect and process space debris within a time limit of 22 hrs in an industrially simulated environment. They worked with a team of 54 students from other schools of India under the aegis of a company named DAFC. The presentation of the proposal design by the students won them the accolades. Their company was declared as the ‘Winning Company’ with the best proposal submitted. The winsome team of students comprised Kshitij Sharma (XI); Satwik Pattnaik (X); Shiv Naveed, Tanish Jain, Pranav Mundhra, Saksham Gupta, Advit Garg and Ishaan Agrawal of Class IX.

Founder’s day

October 30, 2018
Founder’s Day celebrations were graced by Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity Group of Schools and RBEF. She was presented with a collection of poems which students had written for Founder President. Students also presented two performances namely ‘The Magic of Love’ & ‘Belief’ a rhythmic show. A dance drama called ‘Samarpan’ based on the life and times of Founder President was also presented. On this occasion the scholarship winners, around 59 bright achievers from class V-XI, and young sportsmen who won various prizes at National and International sports tournaments were also felicitated by the Chairperson. In her address, urged upon the students to follow the mantra of a- BHAAG for achieving holistic success in life.

Science Film Festival

October 9, 2018
Students from the school attended the second Science Film Festival organised by Goethe Institute, held at Amity University organized under the aegis of AERC. The event aimed at infusing scientific temperament in students through engaging platform of cinema. The highlight of the programme was launch of Science film ‘Living the Change’ based on the theme ‘food revolution’ and the issues of climate change. This was followed by a panel discussion where students came up with ideas to overcome the problem of global food shortage. Dr Leonard Emmerling, Director Programmes South Asia, Goethe Institute; Dr. Carl Jochen Dill, Head of Educational Services, South Asia, Goethe Institute and Dr CM Nautiyal, an eminent educator and scientist graced the occasion with their presence.

Save water Rally

August 9, 2018
Around 150 students of the school took out a rally based on theme ‘Water is precious’ to create awareness among the Sector 46 locality residents and the market about the problem of water wastage and saving water. Pamphlets and stickers were distributed to the public and students also took an oath to save more water.

Dental Hygiene workshop

A Dental hygiene session was conducted in school for the students of Class I-II by Dr Ambica Bhargava, a dental surgeon .The workshop stressed on the importance of oral hygiene, methods to achieve oral hygiene and healthy food habits.

SPIC MACAY – Odissi Dance

Renowned Odissi exponent Guru Geeta Mahalik Padma Shri, gave a mesmerising Odissi dance performance under the aegis of SPIC MACAY. She was accompanied by Shri Prafulla Dash on Mardala, Shri. Prasanta Behera the vocal artist and Shri. Affzal on Violin. Before her performance she also addressed the students on classical dance forms of India and demonstrated different mudras.

Youth Parliament 2018

To make the students aware about the composition, powers and proceedings of the Parliament, a Youth Parliament was held as class presentation by the students of class VII. Doing the role plays as minsters students simulated the proceedings like oath of affirmation by new members, obituary reference, question hour, passing of the bill, calling attention, adjournment motion, laying papers on the table, etc.

Camp Verano 2018

Camp Verano-2018 a summer camp was organized in the school to hone the sports abilities, artistic skills and scientific temperament of children. The camp had an array of activities like : Art & Craft, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Skating, Badminton, Table Tennis, Sip & Bake, and Information Technology to Music and Dance sessions. On the final day of the camp, small group presentations of their learning was given by all the children.

Prerna Diwas was observed on May 11, 2018 with the benign presence of Chairperson who planted an Ashoka tree in the school campus to mark ‘Earth Day’ celebrations as well. The students showcased the drone developed by them as a part of environment protection measure. Chairperson interacted with the children and wherein she shared her dreams, vision, her value based upbringing, experiences, etc. She iterated that the idea behind choosing ‘Vidya Dadati Vinayam’ as Amity logo was to nurture very successful but humble genius young minds who will bring happiness to the world they live in.
