School Enterprise Challenge 2017

Date: March 8, 2018
Team Maati of the school was chosen by a panel of international judges as winner of the Best Global Business Plan at School Enterprise Challenge 2017, by UK charity ‘Teach A Man To Fish’. The completion saw almost 6,000 schools from over 110 countries take part in the challenge which supports students and teachers to plan, set up and run a school business. The school project ‘MAATI- the Soil of India by Amicreations’ wanted to bring back to life the long lost Indian tradition of pottery. Their perfect amalgamation of moral values and business ethics allowed them to keep up with the production and the demand of their products. Within three months, the team earned a profit of more than 200 USD.

Investiture Ceremony

Date: February 12, 2018
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a mellifluous inspirational song by the school choir. The new Student Council members were administered the oath of office. Outgoing head boy and head girl bid a sentimental adieu to the school in their respective speeches. School Principal Mrs. Arti Chopra in her address congratulated the new Student Council members and apprised them of their responsibilities to uphold the rich traditions of the school.

F1 in School

Four teams from school namely Vapr, Qber Racing, Black Phoenix & Blue Falcons participated in national competition- F1 in Schools held in Gurugram from January 12-14, 2018. The teams participated whole heartedly, raised sponsorships and also managed budget to fund research, travel and other expenses. In the Knock-out round, Qber Racing team bagged a position in the list of Top 16. Team Vapr bagged the All Round Performance Award.

Interactive session with Sir Richard John Roberts

Date: January 11, 2018
Nobel laureate Sir Richard John Roberts motivated students through an interactive session on ‘Path to the Nobel Prize’. He spoke about the importance of hard work and shared many interesting anecdotes from his life to inspire young minds. Students of AIS Lucknow and Dubai also joined the session over Skype.

Winter Rendezvous 2018

January 27, 2018
The school held a winter carnival in its premises which pulsated with scintillating music and a lively crowd. Little ones enjoyed various rides and games and gorged on delicious food. The carnival also served a good cause and organised a blood donation camp.

Google Code-in Award

November 28, 17- January 17, 2018
Two students namely Padam Chopra (XI B) and Aryaman Agrawal (XI A) from school won a fully paid week long trip to Google headquarters in California, USA in the Google Code-in competition conducted by Googleplex. Padam completed 71 tasks for a company named Scorelab and Aryaman completed 51 tasks for a company named Systers Community in the 50- day long competition. The students also won official Google merchandise and goodies.

Interaction with Kailash Satyarthi

Over 25 students along with school Principal Arti Chopra got a golden opportunity to meet Noble Peace Prize Laureate Kailash Satyarthi. In his session, he spoke on issues like child labour, human trafficking, etc and shared many incidences from his personal experiences. Students also shared their Youth Power project Upasththi with him which talks about the issue of early drop out of girls from schools.

Session by Nobel Laureate Dr Takaaki Kajita

January 30, 2018
The students had the opportunity to attend an interactive session by Dr Takaaki Kajita, a Nobel Prize winner at Amity University, Noida. He was awarded Noble prize in Physics for his theory on Neutrino and Super Kamiokande project. He is presently working on gravitational waves in Kamioka underground observatory. Children asked him questions related to his projects.

Theatre Workshop

January 14, 2018
The school organised a 13 day production oriented theatre workshop in association with ‘Gateway to Theatre’ in Education on weekends and during winter break. The workshop culminated in the form of a stage performance, ‘Perform and portray’ wherein Class II to XI students presented the adaption from ‘Shrek’ and ‘Schindler’s List’. Students’ performances were appreciated by one and all.

Plantation Drive

November 2, 2017
The school organized a planation drive for the students of Class I-II in the school premises to sensitize students towards environmental issues. The children brought saplings from their homes and were acquainted with the common names of saplings like neem, tulsi kachnaar, etc. and their multi fold uses.

Annual Day Lakshay

The school celebrated its senior school annual day titled ‘Lakshay- nurturing future laureates’ amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation. Over 1850 students from Class VI-XII took part in it. The function was graced by the presence of Vinay Pratap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram as the chief guest along with Lt Gen SP Kochhar, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council as the guest of honour; Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF and Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, ASFT, ASFA & ASPA. The annual function commenced with mellifluous orchestra. School Principal read out the annual report card of school highlighting the achievements of students in academics and co- curricular activities. The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of students with special awards. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.

Build a start-up workshop

Date: August 1-5, 2017
The school participated in a five-day workshop on ‘build a start-up’ conducted by experts from Germany, organised under the aegis of AERC. The students were provided end to end knowledge of entrepreneurship cycle and were introduced to the realities of entrepreneurship as well as the misconceptions surrounding it using various case studies. Various exercises were conducted to enhance the presentation skills of the students.

Cyber safety workshop

Date: September 1, 2017
The school organised a cyber-safety workshop for the students of Class VII- XII. The workshop conducted by Rakshit Tandon aimed at educating children about cybercrime and the negative effects of social media and internet browsing. The expert also talked about increasing number of suicide rates in India due to the highly hyped Blue Whale challenge.

Disha- a career fair

The school organised a career fair titled ‘Disha’ for Class X students. The fair organised in two phases- Panel Discussion and Individual Class Exhibition, aimed at making students aware of various career opportunities available to them. The expert panelists shared their personal life’s experiences and stated how their schools played a key role in their careers and taught them to disciplined and organised. The students raised multiple questions regarding career choices and cleared their doubts.

Felicitation Ceremony of CBSE toppers

Amity Group of Schools organised a felicitation ceremony to honour students for their impeccable achievements in the Board Examinations 2017. Anshika Pradhan and Nitya Chopra from school scored a percentage of 98.4 in Science and Humanities streams, respectively and made the school proud by becoming the city toppers of Gurugram region. The event witnessed participation of all high scorers of the Boards 2017 from all the branches of Amity International Schools. The students were awarded in three categories - ‘School Topper’, ‘Perfect 100’ and ‘Super 99’ and the toppers were awarded with special citations and trophies in the ceremony.

Amity- Innovation in Education Technology Award

Date: June 27-28, 2017
The award function for Amity- Innovation in Education Technology Award was held at AIS PV. This unique award for teachers was instituted in the year 2015 by Chairperson to encourage and motivate teachers to adopt technology led new age learning models and imbibe 21st century skills in students. Teachers shared their lesson ideas and classroom experiences focusing on new age learning models like PBL, Flipped, and Blended, with the audience. Shalini Agrawal from school bagged the award for best entry in the senior school category.

Summer Camp ‘Verano’

Date: May 16-26, 2017
The school organised a two week summer camp titled ‘Verano’ for the students of Class I to VII. The objective of the camp was to keep children engaged during the summer vacations to hone their artistic skills and at the same time improving their physical fitness. The camp catered to all indoor and outdoor activities arranged such as art & craft, cricket, football, sip & bake, drawing, music and dance sessions for the children. The students received participation certificates for their excellent efforts during the summer camp.

Astronomy Day

Date: March 31, 2017
Astronomy day was celebrated by the students of the space club of the school. Stalls were put up which provided information about activities like comet cooking, kit display, comparing weight of earth to other planets, safe solar observation, hydro rocketry etc. Students organized games based on astronomy topics and engaged the spectators in these activities.

Prerna Diwas Celebrations

To commemorate Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF on her birthday, the school celebrated Prerna Diwas. The celebrations commenced with the 'crowning ceremony' of Chairperson by Class I students. The skating hall had a display of Earth day exhibits along with Odyssey of the Mind performances. Engineering Taster Session

Date: April 11, 2017
Science students of Class XI and XII participated in an Engineering Taster Session held at AIS PV organised under the aegis of ACCGC. The session was conducted by Prof Stephen Watts, Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Cardiff University. The workshop’s objective was to give opportunity to the students to go through a taster lecture session and participate in a project conducted by Prof Watts.

7th Annual Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards

Under the able guidance of Dr (Mrs) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Group of Schools and RBEF who has always encouraged children to undertake different social initiatives, Gursimran Singh, Class, won a Gold medal at the 7th Annual Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards in the individual category for having built ‘EyeScribe’, an assistive device to help the visually impaired experience the joy of reading. The school also won a Bronze medal for their community services done under their initiative ‘MustQuito’ conducted by their schools Youth Power team in the Group category to create awareness on how to combat mosquitoes. Gursimran was awarded a cash reward of Rs 50,000, and a return trip to Washington, D.C. in May 2017 where he will represent India in the global felicitation ceremony.

Orientation Programme for Class V

Date:April 1, 2017
The school conducted an orientation programme for the parents of the Class V students for the session 2017-18. The programme was designed to support child in making a smooth transition to the middle school. The academic coordinator Ranjana Sharma familiarised the parents with the examination pattern and usage of Amitranet and Almanac. A special session on ‘New Age Parenting’ was conducted by Pria Warrick, President cum Executive Director, Pria Warrick finishing school. The programme concluded with vote of thanks.

Orientation Programme for Class I

The orientation programme conducted for the parents of Class I students commenced with lighting of the lamp amidst the chanting of shlokas. School Principal Arti Chopra in her address gave tips on effective parenting to reduce the anxiety of parents. She emphasised on the importance of teaching vital life skills to children to prepare them for life. The highlight of the event was a presentation by Dr Kanika K Ahuja, a well-known Psychologist on ‘Starting school on a right note’. The presentation talked about how parents can help in smooth transition of a child from the homely environment to the school life.
