Globally Comparable Infrastructure

A constantly evolving infrastructure has been an ideal facilitator for an effective delivery of our constantly evolving curriculum.

Model Farm

For ensuring a deep understanding of the business dynamics, and indepth knowledge of the commodity/product being traded becomes evident. In fulfillment of this conceptual logic as it applies to an Agri-food Business professional in particular, an Organic Instructional Farm has been developed based on the objectives of the Institute in totality, for reconstructing the habitat through natural processes. Participation of each student in observing and testing the bio-dynamic principles of organic agriculture based on a specific cropping system allotted on a year-round basis is a unique feature of this on-farm training program.

A critical analysis of the viability of a system with the applied management practices in terms of its productivity potentials, global competitiveness, cost-effectiveness and environmental impacts particularly on soil fertility and microbial activities are assessed.

A “Crop Cafeteria” comprising of various crop plants such as cereals, oilseeds, food grains, legumes, green manures, fiber, sugar, forages, medicinal and aromatic plants, spices and condiments, narcotics, dyes, herbals and plantation crops has been established for identification and comprehension of the students. Apart from these, production of crucial organic inputs namely organic manures, bio-fertilizers, vermicomposting and crop residues with its recycling units and a net house are accommodated.

Well Equipped Laboratories

Laboratories are well equipped with all the sophisticated state-of-art equipments and devices. Students gain practical knowledge on diagnosis of diseases and disorders of plants, nutrient deficiencies, soil microbial analysis, analysis of physical, chemical and biological properties of soil, nutrient composition of agricultural and horticultural crops, mushroom production, post-harvest management (cooling, grading, processing, packaging, and certification of organic food grains, fruits and vegetables) and water testing.

Computing Facilities

The Institute apart from its own facilities uses well-equipped computer center that provides computing facilities comprising of latest HP/IBM machines integrated with a wide range of software, communications and print services. Latest software are used to enable work on data analysis, web technologies and software designing. The internet enables close on-line interaction by faculty and students. The Institute is part of the technologically advanced wireless campus. The students have access to web-based information from any and every location in the campus.

Classrooms

Spacious classrooms provide conducive and amicable environment for interactive and focused discussions. The classrooms have been designed to bring together analysis with action and are well augmented with audio-visual teaching aids for lectures, presentations, seminars etc.
