About the course
This
new discipline encompasses all the aspects of biological
information - acquisition, processing, storage,
distribution, analysis and interpretation. It
combines the tools and techniques of Biology, Computer
Sciences, Information Technology and Mathematics, with
the aim of understanding the biological significance of
a variety of data. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)
- based identification of genetic disorders and DNA chip
technology to determine errors of gene expression are
revolutionising the rontier areas of Genomics and
Bioinformatics.
Emerging of this new discipline
has greater potential for the future and early entrants
to this exciting field will stand to achieve the
most.
